Welcome to your new home! Just bought this 2013 Derek Trucks SG. Guy I bought from is a Fender player and basically just kept this in the case since buying it new. Love the D neck and as soon as I picked it up and tried it I new it was coming home with me. The playablity and resonation is fantastic. Just tried it through my Friedman BE-50 Deluxe. My ears are smiling. Oh and the D.T. signature truss rod cover is in the case. I just wanted to try another one I had.

    It’s just the frame/cover. It’s used as a decoration.

This is how his signature model ships. Derek Trucks doesn’t use the vibrola, but “likes” the look of the cover so he added it.

Good lord that is a beautiful slab of wood carved into an amazing looking SG. I'd kill for grain like that. Congratulations, that's an amazing looking axe.

I am a fan of Derek Trucks... and I believe that his sig model is one of the best guitars Gibson makes. The quality of the wood shows this, and I'm sure the pickups were selected by him because he knows the tone he wants, and he executes it beautifully.

I believe they are Gibson's '57 classic pickups. IMHO the '57 Classics and SGs are made
for each other. If they aren't '57s, they will be top notch, which is why your ears are
    smiling.

Enjoy... you made an excellent choice IMHO. I own two SGs with are of much lesser
pedigree, but which also are joys to play, and to listen to. Now let's see some more
    photographs.
