Picked this up at the local music store, saw on FB in the SG owners site , called later that Friday evening and it was already sold . So I head down to my local music store Saturday morning to get a strap for my fairly new to me 2003 61 RI that I have posted on the Gibson side and there is the Epiphone sitting there all looking pretty so I said “ there’s that guitar that sold in one day “ and Tim the store owner says Oh he backed out because of the wife said no . Sweet , so took it home right there and then !
Real nice ! It has quite wide bevels, neck binding, I like that. Can I ask how much such a beauty goes for ?
I was surprised by the Gibson headstock , on eBay the Elitist and Elite has a different headstock than this . I been on a amp rotation this week and been playing my Orange Crush Pro 120 and just switched last night to Rockverb MK 3 100 , sounds great through both amps and it seems pretty close to the Classic 57's in my RI so I'll have to A and B them tonight to get a better or more accurate opinion plus I need to play them with my Recto's which is what I gig with
Lookin good! I think the LQ series from Japan made some really great Les Pauls maybe your SG isnt poly?
According to the defunct Epiphone Wiki, it would be a JDM model as PtL mentioned above. Could be the LQ or an SG-70. https://web.archive.org/web/20170404033652/http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/Epiphone_Japan A great find, hope you enjoy it.
On the site a LQ has long tenon neck joint , if that means set at 19th fret mine must be a SG 70 ? Does that sound right? Mine is set at 22 fret
I think most SGs have the long tenon, which means it extends past the fretboard into the body, hence the tenon cover that set neck SGs have. It looks like the two models have different types of finishes, and the SG-70 has a tone and master tone knob? Those might be ways to identify which model you have. The serial number might give some clues too.
it must be a 61 SG LQ . it does not have the Master Tone of the 70 and the color looks like white instead of vintage white
