Let me tell you folks, this thing is a CREME PUFF! 1 ZILLION percent original in EVERY way. And OH MY GOD does it play and sound like a GEM! I go through a LOT of guitars, this just found its PERMANENT home!
Got a 72/73, that is my number 1! I got rid of my Paul custom after getting this baby, and haven't missed it.
If that is indeed a '73, it must be a late one, seeing as it has the unbound Ebony fretboard. Have you checked the pot codes? https://solidguitar.wikia.com/wiki/SG_Standard#1973-1979 Congrats on the NGD! Norlins are severely underrated it seems.
Wow, only the 20th week. That puts it in May '73. Typically, there's an 8 week lead time from the pots being produced to being installed on a guitar. I would assume a little longer here, though. Still, that makes it surprisingly early for an Ebony fretboard. You could have one of the earliest examples.
My friend has the exact same 73' he got in high school back in the early 80's from Chuck Levin's outside of DC. Definitely the best playing SG I've ever encountered.
