NVGD: My First Vintage! 1969 Gibson SG

    Serial numbers from 1961-1977 are useless for dating. Pots are the best indicator besides build features. Your pots say late 1968, so this was likely built in early 1969.

    Yes, I'm aware of that. The pots were what I was going by, but all the other indicators just help verify the time frame.

    Pretty much all of them from the large guard era were routed for 3 pickups. Hence the large gaurd

    Almost; the earliest batwings in '66 through mid-'67 didn't have it yet, and then the last year of batwings in '71 returned to two routes:
