Hey everyone I got my bareknuckle pups and today I decided to install them. I am a bit puzzled how to mount them, as the mounting is different then the stock pups. I remember reading that you mount them right to the body of the guitar but how do you keep them from rattling around? Do I use the springs from the other pup to keep them tight? Here are some pics...
Is that pickup from a Classic?
Yep
I'm afraid you may have to send it back. The SG Classic uses dogear pickups with soapbar covers. I haven't actually had mine out, but the extra screws on the pickguard that change the height of my pickups, combined with your photo have me convinced of this. Just to be clear, the pickup you took out was mounted to the bottom of the pickguard with screws and springs connected to the tabs on the sides of the pickup, right?
I thought so as well however Lexie told me how its done. You mount right to the body. And you use a bit of the packing foam to add some push back so you can get hight adj. The stock pup was mounted to the picguard. The BKP is mounted to the body... It worked like a charm...
It sounds like... like.. pure sex... It has much more definition than the stock pups. It sounds like a single coil but fat bright and growly, not fuzzy or muddy. Now I just need to save up to refit my Faded Brown SG
