Love my tribute. No frills, simple, beast of an axe. If a standard was something other than red or black, I might would have gone that route. Love my choice!!

I love the simplicity of my tribute. The maple neck feels great and the pickups rock. I wanted something other than red or black that the standards offer. The satin walnut is beautiful. View attachment 42799

How is the "Overwrap treating you? My 86 R-62 likes it.. my 76 standard does not.. just curious if you do it to all your stop tails or only if string tension feels a bit heavy?

I don't know any other way to do it, lol. On my LP's and SG's since I started playing (in the 80's), I have always top wrapped. It just doesn't feel right unless it is.

I love the feel on my 86 SG .. even i play 9's.. the guitar plays itself.. effortless.. my 76 does fine without an overwrap.. but i may try it again.. its the reason we love Gibsons over Fenders.. the slinky feel..

This is true probably for many people. The dearth of choices when it comes to colors might just turn people to other guitars.

Gibson does occasionally offer limited edition colors/finishes on their Standards (I've got a Natural Burst Standard), but for the most part it is either black or cherry. That's it. When you look at the insane variety of finishes that Fender offers, it really makes you wonder why can't Gibson do it?

I play alot of bass (pbass) but have always wonder how the eb's (or sg's) feel and sound. You play in a band with bass or just noodle at home?

@pancake81 thank you mate! if you are talking about the black strat in the background it's not a Fender. It's fake strat called Magma. a gift guitar from my mother to my father and the reason i started guitar.

Right now the State I live in is on lock down. So I would have to say I am "Noodling at home". As far as your first question My answer to that is Personal appeal. I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago of never being able to physically play the 2 Gibson basses ever again due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and varying degrees of numbness and paralysis in my left arm and hand caused by 2 strokes 6 years ago. But I have always felt that it was a personal experience. There are some songs I don't use the Gibson's on and others I feel they should only be used on. I have been accused of skirting the issue with my answer a number of times. I will say that the EB3 with the 4 way Veritone Switch and the VVTT configuration can be a bit confusing. But with the SG Standard VVT only setup that has relieved a lot of that confusion.

2008 SG Custom Faded Cherry Gloss w/Maestro

I'm curious about the finish name.

Faded.
2002 SG Special Faded.
Faded = unfilled grain, satin finish.

What is Faded Cherry Gloss?
Is it unfilled grain with gloss clear coat?
Or is it filled grain with gloss clear coat and the finish color is Faded Cherry?
Faded Cherry as in the color mixed to look like UV light caused it to fade?
