never held one, but it looks like the color is faded Cherry and it is finished in nitro. No?
Nitro can be either gloss or satin.
The "Faded" finishes have unfilled grain with a satin nitro clear coat.
Some of the satin finishes do not have the grain filled.
Both finishes have satin nitro clear coat.
If this Faded Cherry Gloss has the grain filled with a gloss clear coat, it would have been less confusing if they had not used the term "Faded" in the color name as they have already used that term on models in the past to imply that the grain is not filled.
Example: SG Faded
Colors: Worn Cherry, Worn Brown, Worn Yellow
Perhaps "Light Cherry" would have been a better choice instead of "Faded Cherry Gloss". By not including "Faded" or "Satin" implies that the grain is filled with a gloss clear coat.
Just an observation.
"Faded" doesn't mean the same thing to the Custom Shop that it does to the USA line. It means they're mimicking the UV desaturation that results from decades of sunlight exposure to a vintage SG. So basically, it means a less vibrant, more orangey red, similar to the USA's "Heritage Cherry". It was the standard finish for all Historic SGs until 2019, when they (finally, IMO) switched to a straight-up "Cherry Red".
Nail on the head. 08 Custom in faded cherry gloss. Its a rare bird. Good eye.
Yeah its just the color name. I know they could have named it literally any other variant and made it a lot less confusing. I assure you though shes as glossy as a fresh marble...except for my grubby paw prints

New to me 2019 Gibson SG Special. Got this one for free with some trading and haggling. I’ve debated getting chrome P90 covers and adding a white guard! Not sure if it would look off though.
