Here is my GIBSON SG Menace 2008. I bought (used) a month ago in my local e-commerce. Looks great...plays great....sounds killer...and I'm ready to rock.
Gibson USA SG Standard ‘61 from the original collection (2019 serial number) and a Gibson Custom 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue (Historic Reissue, 2019 serial number shipped from factory in 2020). I had a 2018 USA SG Standard ‘61 that I hated. One day walking into the store I saw these new original collection Standard ‘61. After playing for a few minutes, I knew what I had to do. Went home got my 2018 SG and traded for the original collection SG. I’m normally a LP guy, but I’ve bonded with this USA SG so much that I thought it would be a nice birthday present to myself to upgrade my USA SG to a Custom Shop SG. Cosmetically the custom shop is definitely a significant upgrade. However, I found that the in terms of playability, this USA one holds up. Certain things like the edge of the bridge that is a bit more rounded on the Custom Shop adds to comfort. However, the neck feel are much closer than USA vs Custom shop LPs in my experience. I went as far as measuring the thickness of the binding, and while all my other Original Collection USA guitars had neck binding around 1.5mm, this SG’s binding was around 0.8mm, which is also the measurements on my R9, R0 and the custom shop SG. So much so, I was on the fence on whether to return the Custom Shop SG and keep the USA SG or keep the custom shop SG and sell the USA SG. What tipped the scale to the custom shop SG was the ridiculous sustain. It has even more sustain than my R9, significantly so, and that R9 is already ridiculous. The USA SG is no slouch either, for it keeps up with mosts LPs I’ve owned. Anyways, I’ll be listing the USA SG soon. But while I have these two beauties with me, I thought I’d share my temporary SG collection.
well, will add another SG .. Today my 2017 SG Faded T got some new brains ... new set of Gibson BurstBuster Pros . Now she can keep up with her big sister ..
Hello, new guy, first post - Faded Worn White 2011. It came with Burstbuckers and a very swanky case. I added the pickup rings to fix the angles.
LTBR, that is stunning man. I have always wanted to add a Malcolm “Beast” to joint my Angus SG’s. Tell me, how do you like it.
Beautiful. tell me about your amp set up. It appears to be the 50th anniversary JTM-1H (a JTM45 inspired amp). What did you pair it with for speakers? Also, I see a solo Dallas pedal there, would love your thoughts on that
