Well, I just purchased a factory second Les Paul Custom in beautiful condition, with damage on the headstock, I bought a Gibson Custom Shop overlay and I'm going to try to put it on this thing, I got the guitar cheap so I figured why not just fool around with it? Anyone ever done anything like this and can help?

I thought that factory seconds were guitars with barely discernable finish flaws, not headstock damage.

I've never heard of one thats been damaged so badly - the veneer needs replacing? You have to post some pics of this - let us see the extent of the damage

1. please note BMW does not say its a GIBSON factory second.

2. may I politely suggest that you ask the fellow who bought your SG... the one with the crack you forgot to mention... I'd like to hear the end of THAT story!

3. more pics of Katie!!!!!!!

Haha, I'll be sure to post the pics of Katie sometime tonight or tomorrow since it will be the first day of school... and the headstock has a very very small paint thing... like a chip... I sanded the top of it and I think I figured out how to do this... also... I have resolved the issue with eBay... the guy got his money from PayPal, and I closed the account, so now my funds are "on hold" even though the account is gone so oh well :p and the feedback was left negative, but better than paying all that money I guess...

[/quote]From the way you described that it sounds like you just sat on your ass. Oh and by the way when paypal does catch up with you they will make you pay for the loss they took on the guitar, and you will be both out of the money and out of the guitar. You should have refunded his money and had him return the guitar. Hope you will like your sore ass because you are going to get screwed plain and simple.

True, I sat on my ass... but I don't get it... the thing didn't have a crack in it... yes, a small one, but the crack was nothing like that when I got it... or sent it... instead, this asshole thinks its the biggest thing in the world... I know it wasnt listed which was my fault completely, but I don't see what he was mad at, I could have refunded some, but I wasnt about to refund 400 dollars for this, its not like the headstock broke off.

The original size of the crack doesn't matter. You didn't tell him about ANY crack, so from his perspective, there ought not have been any.

This reminds me of that kid who shot his teacher. He went home. He got a loaded gun. He returned to school with the gun.. He went inside and went to the teachers room. He opened the door and pointed the gun at the teacher. And wouldn't you know it? Thats when the gun decided to malfuction! It was all the damn guns fault. Not the kids fault at all.

Man I've just been lurking here, but BMW, you're caught up in a terrible mind game with yourself. You admit blame, yet you're unwilling to accept blame. You're unwilling to step up and do the right thing.

But, instead you call the other fellow an asshole, but in fact, it is clear that is you instead.

You're gonna have problems in life kid, unless you straighten up, and smarten up.

indeed Vic I really don't he gets it. the size of the crack doesn't matter there was one in the first place which YOU should have told him about. so really this guy had every right to complain, imagine how you would feel buying an SG for 400 Dollars which has a crack near the headstock which the seller conveniently forgot to tell you about I think you would be pretty upset my man, ravin' to us about what an asshole this guy was selling you a duff SG! so just accept it you fucked up.

Just trying to wake you up to the error of your ways BMW...
Sometimes, we all need a swift kick in the wallet to see the light.

Musicians in general and guitarists in peticular are part of a brotherhood
(a confederancy of dunces, some would say) and there's alot of goodwill
towards each other out there. I mean, who else can understand us?
We tend to stick together. When an injustice happens to one of us,
it befalls us all.

Most of my dearest friends are players. Players communicate with each
other with notes of the soul and our instrument is a very special part of
what we are and how we bring our inner self to the world.

Be 100% with your fellow guitar players and you'll get 100% back. But throw
envy, greed, ego, or lies into the mix and the karma will be overwhelming.

Standing up and admitting it is good.

Making it right is better.

You'll feel better when you do!

(and we are a persistant bunch of misfits aren't we....)
