Are there any quality connectors (as in negligible signal degradation) that could be installed on pups & in the control cavity so one could easily change between/among different pups?

I've heard of people using aligator clips.

For temporary testing, I'm sure that's fine. Looking for something that could be left in there and not harm muddy up the signal.

Yes. And you can even chose the sides you want.

I used them in my Valve Junior so i could experiment with different values of capacitors, resistors and other things.

EMG has something similar for the quik-connect, but the male end is built into the pickup.

I don't understand the sides (?) you want.

(Like the guage wire that fits into it)

I understand now. It's not easy to see how the wire attaches to the connector. Does the covering pull back out of the way so you can solder?

Actually the purpose of these is no-soder connections. You simple choose the size gauge of spade connector, so that the wire your using fits in complactly. Then you crimp the end of the connector, which crimps the wire inside.

    Great connection with no soldering.

    Will any standard crimper work?

Some crimpers have differnt gauges on them that are color coordinated of the color spade connector so that it crimps the best it can.

But to answer your question, yes. Most likely.

What size would be the most appropriate for pup leads?

    Hmm Im really not sure.
These spade connectors can be bought at radioshack and come in baggies of many different size. The best way to see is to buy them and compare.

Thanks for the info. When I'm in the experimentation mood on pups, it sounds like the way to go.

    Your welcome.
In advanced, some advice is that when connecting a male & female spade connector, its a very tight connection so, caution is advised when disconnecting them.
