Oh yeah...Since the PU rings that come with the Mini-tron PU's are cream color, I took quick action to correct that, since the primary colors of this build will be red, black, and bronze. The only visible chrome items will be the pickup covers and polepiece screws. The gold reflectors in the control knobs will be the only other "brite-work". .kevins camera 292.jpg

Thank you both. I'm looking forward to it all! Very curious about how it's gonna sound when it's complete.

milesdeem, I am interested to hear your opinion on how the GFS Liverpool sounds as I am considering buying a pair and building a Gretsch Duo Jet type clone.

I will be sure to let all here know how I like the Liverpool Minitrons....What little I've read indicates that people who have them like them a lot. I can tell you right now that I selected the vintage wound "Liverpool" versions because they are Alnico 5. And they're wound to near vintage PAF power, which is a bit more than typical Filtertron spec....

The former cream color pickup ring now matches the scheme.....Nothing against cream color. It just wasn't part of the plan. I could've gotten a set of black ring's for small change, but I wanted to see if the rattle-can stuff'd look good. And it look's good. .kevins camera 297.jpg

Neck fit's to body nicely. Alignment with bridge stud holes and pickup routes is pretty straight. Not perfect, but straight enough to call it good. Nice tight neck pocket. And the body to neck fit in all areas with no gaps makes for a cleaner look. I approve.
BTW the color of the body you see in all these photos is not the actual color seen in person. It's really blood red. My girl pointed out that some previous shot's taken show a pink-ish coloration...maybe even violet....but it's that bastard Vivitar. Blood red....not Hello Kitty....more like Goodbye Kitty:smile: .kevins camera 299.jpg .kevins camera 298.jpg .kevins camera 302.jpg

Close enough I say....purple's good:cool:. Quite a difference in appearance using 2 different cameras though. The higher priced camera doesn't lie about the color as much LOL.
So that's the difference between a $25 camera and a $400 camera :hmm:.

Yeah I read the Minitrons (and the entire Retrotron series) are highly recommended. I'm expecting good sounds with the vintage wound alnico 5 Liverpool minis....I'm glad you like the full-size Memphis Retrotrons so much. Review's like that mean good new's for me .
