I have the cool edit pro 2 program, but I scarcely use it. I like Audacity since it's simple, free and my recordings don't get very complicated to sort out.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ You can download it from there.
It's a really good little program, simple like I said and so doesn't use too much CPU (depending on how many tracks you record). Easy to use interface aswell.

Do you plug your guitar into the P/C, Do you mike your amp with the mic plugged into the P/C ?

I think you can do either. I find if you have a decent mic, that its better to mic the amp.

Well I just use the built in mic in my webcam, but I know that IYWB just uses a $1 one. I guess you can really use any mic.

Any PC mic will do really, but I prefer the line out on my effects into my line in on my PC. Neither of them makes an excellent recording but at least with line in I can record silently and not annoy the neighbours.

    I still use Cubase.
I've been using it since I bought my first computer more than 10 years ago, which was an old Atari.
The recent versions of Cubase are real amazing, you can do pretty much anything with it.

Yeh cubase is pretty good, I'm using it in a college recording project. Easy mixing with it.
