the dumps are cool around here spunk! they let the guys who watch it sell stuff! i;ve actually been stopping by from time to time hoping to find something i could salvage a tube amp out of, hope this is it! if so i've got a cheesey little gorilla amp chassis to stuff it in! (sleeper?) 8) 8)

better not count my chickens yet....still smarting from the organ fiasco!

i certainly would if it got me what i was after SGM! i'm the scrounger from hell i tell ye!!

welp....as a first test i hooked a speaker up thru the existing plug, and the guitar into the phono jack....as it was warming up i got the guitar coming through the speaker, but then it started humming real loud, even after unplugging the guitar from the amp. almost a low pitched feedback sound.....hmmmmmm....

further inspection...the 6AU6 tube isn't glowing...

it still makes the noise even unplugged from the guitar and with the volume turned all the way down....

and i'm getting just a little spark when i touch the speaker wire to the output plug and move it around...

The spark is a good sign. Not to worry.
The hum is the leaking caps. Gotta replace the big one near the transformer first then go to the next biggest one. The tube will start to glow and nirvana will set in.

Great find!

Yeah,

the filter caps...yeah, that's it......Me and Morgan fairchild....er I mean...ahem!
The caps all start leaking voltage after a while. It the nature of the materials used. They break down after a while. need to get same spec replacements and you will be fine.
I have 2 POS amps on the way and am circling the cage like a hungry gerbil.....Waiting for Morgan Fairchild to walk thru the door.....yeah!

Clean er up Ess.

The transformer is fairly clean. DO NOT SAND OR SCOUR IT.

Change the multielement capacitor (silver can).

Change those paper tubed capacitors.

Then enjoy it.
