Hello - What's your opinion of the new SG classic with the P90s. I have a Sg standard and was thinking
about also having the classic as well. Thanks :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "new" but mine is a 2008 and it is great. Very comfortable to play. I changed the pots, caps (rsguitarworks) and bridge (tonepros locking). Great tone through those P90's!

I have about 37 guitars and my SG Classic is the ONLY one that have had no desire to mod in any way, if that tells you anything. In fact, I've modded some of my other guitars to be more like the Classic!

I meant Sg Classic. It would be new to me. I never played a guitar with P90s before. And I really enjoy my SG Standard. Thanks :)

Mine is a pre-flood 2010. Only mod was swapping the "Classic" truss rod cover for a plain one. Huge improvement in tone. ;)

just another one of many fans of the SG classic. No mods on mine either. Why mess with a great sounding and playing guitar?

Okay, so I lied when I said that I haven't modded my Classic. I changed the TRC too.

    Love my classic!

I changed the TRC to a blank one, and the tuners to tonepros tulips. purely for my own tastes, and to look more 'classic'.

So the "classic" is what we used to call the SG special - 2 P 90's, bound neck w/ dots, no B.S. and killer sound.
So why isn't that still the SG Special? I can't keep track of all the Gibson model names and changes.

Well I guess it could be called "classic" because it sure is a classic music making machine, think of how many cool things were recorded with a similar guitar.....early Doors, early Sabbath, some Zappa, the Who, etc.....

All true. They updated the Special to have a pair of humbuckers way back when, 1980 or so. So now they have to call the P 90 version the Classic. :D
