My 1st post, hello all!
Wow! Fantastic 1st post. I’m definitely not worthy! Those are beautiful
Hey there football, happy to be here!
Very, very, very nice.
But what's with all the Marshalls? Why not expand your SG vocabulary and play through a VOX or a Fender or even a Roland Jazz Chorus?
Would any of these do?
Hmm, not a Roland Jazz Chorus in sight.
had one that I sold to my keyboard playing friend. I didn’t like it at all for anything. I tried to but it didn’t work for me.
Try an Ampeg VT22, it’ll convert you if you want that ultra clean spank
I can’t compete with those photos Goldtone, simply jaw dropping. These are the trio of SG’s in my music room. Allow me to introduce Apollo, #1, and Amy.
Brah those are AWESOME!!!
My 1st SG was a ‘68 batwing I bought when I was 18 years old in 1984. It was a wonderful thing of beauty that I traded a mid ‘70’s Les Paul for. The SG was near mint ($800). I was sooooo in love with it when I saw it in the shop, brought my Les Paul to trade and would have been 100% happy to just swap. The shop owner says to me “what else do you want? A Les Paul is more than an SG”
I walked out with the SG, a cry baby, and a fuzz
Man I played that guitar hours upon hours a day for 20 years before I stupidly sold it
I still regret it and miss it dearly
Welcome aboard Goldtone! That's got to be one of the best first posts - or looked at another way, what took you so long to join? You could've been here 2 guitars ago. :)
I love that classic looking white Custom - is it the current model, if not, what year is it? Looks very clean (well, they all do!).
Three seems to be the perfect number for SGs - I keep getting there, but never beyond it, (at least in terms of Gibsons). My current three:
Nice intro and gear Goldtone !
Will a trio of cousins do ?
To be honest, my Fender Princeton Chorus is better than my Roland Jazz Chorus. Supposedly the Fender has the exact same chorus as the Roland JC, plus the Fender isn't as mid-rangey as the Roland and, of course, the Fender has that great Fender reverb.
You have very nice gear, but a black mark against it are all those Marshalls. I am proud to say that I own eight amps...not one of them a Marshall!
I’m at 22 amps, of the variety I listed...4 Marshall’s...might be time to lose the Marshalls?
NMA; my gigging amp is a ‘74 Vibrolux Reverb, what’s yours?
Back to SG’s...the Custom is a new 2020 Custom Shop ‘63 reissue. It’s a pleasure to play!
welcome to the madness
Gigging? That's for philistines looking to make a quick buck out of the art of music. I make music not for money. I make music for music's sake. For art's sake.
And when I do get together with the boys to make our art, I am John Lennon:
Very nice rig!! Enjoy!
