Ran into this beautiful image of this model, not talked about a lot. I assume it’s custom shop only (Gibbons)? Looks beautiful.

    Welcome to ETSG!

Billy Gibbons has an extensive collection of guitars,
(cars too) but he mostly plays custom guitars made for him
by John Bolin of Bolin Guitars.

Which is what that is (I think). It's not a Gibson guitar.
    But it's lovely of course.

Hey ! Thanks :) been lurking for a few weeks trying to spark some more discussion. I saw he has a 61 RI but this one pictured isn’t it (it’s similar) custom shop has one identical but it’s not that one. It seems to say “les Paul” on the TRC (def says dales paul). Tried his gear bios and nada.

Yeah, probably a Custom Shop special for him, since it seems to say Les Paul on the TRC.

Here's a similar one he had done before by Gibson:

Can't wrap my head around that headstock on a SG. That Texas one is Fugly too.

Love the older pinstripped '61 he uses.

Gibbons can play any darn guitar he fancies. I didn't know that Gibson had made
custom guitars for him, but why wouldn't they? I think there could be a very interesting
coffee table book made, filled with just Billy Gibbons guitars.

I know there's one that features his collection of cars.

Jay Leno’s garage took my heart tbh. Will look at gibbons soon, so weird I can’t find this axe anywhere on the web. It’s probably recent since I picked it up on some Facebook ad

Just watched the rig run down, not a bad episode. Host wasn’t exactly on the ball.

Seeing that lyre up close on the video is amazing. Love the look, kind of want to do one up like that now

These are my favorites I found on Google. The white with the bold red is my favorite.

This ISNT lil red though. He’s playing this one currently. Wonder what it is (lil red has different tribal marks and a normal headstock.)

Tim Sult (Clutch) used to play this thing a lot:

I don't know the story and I don't think he plays it live any more.

I used to know Tim a long time ago. I was a roadie for a band that was on tour with Clutch back in 1994. We used to talk a lot, Neil too, though I doubt either would remember me now. His was the first, afaik. He told me that he had broken the HS on the SG (i was there the day he bought that SG from Guitar Center in Hollywood before a Whisky show in late 1994). He had the V laying around, which he said he never used. So he had the HS from the V put onto the SG. This was back in like 1995/6 or so. It's now in one of the Hard Rock Hotel display cases.

Wow that is absolutely stunning, Frankenstein of sorts but still respectable. 94 SG came with a control plate pickguard ?? Wonder what use that has hah! Wonder if gibbons also suffered a HS break

I would guess no, but could be wrong. Gibbons tends to many of his guitars overhauled to meet his taste and needs. I think customizing is just as important as the music (or car) to him. That’s what makes it his own, and like most probably really enjoys the process

There is a new Hard Rock Cafe casino opening in Atlantic City. I'll be lurking in there checking out any and all gear. I've been to MANY HR cafes. Many used to have more gear than now. It feels like being in church.
