I love seeing guitars on TV (Billy Gibbons shows up on Bones every now and then). Anime tends to have more niche shows which means the instruments are highlighted more. It's not going to be for everyone, but some of you might enjoy it. Here are a few featuring SGs.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Features: White Gibson SG, Italia Mondial II Woody

The rotoscoping for the guitar playing animation creates a bit of an uncanny valley effect.

Angel Beats

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi7qYAmPF3E"]Thousand Enemies- Girls Dead Monster - Lyrics Translated - YouTube[/ame]

Features: Red Gibson SG Special

Most of the concert scenes are CG and shot at a distance so they aren't that detailed. The hand drawn material varies, they get sloppy in some shots.

Super Sonico
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3ZaEp5-Kio"]SoniAni Super Sonico The Animation ED 4 - YouTube[/ame]

Features Red Gibson SG

The 4th episode is all about the backstory behind the main character's SG and how the main character started playing music.

There are a few other series that feature alot of guitars although not SGs. Some of them have a heavier music focus.

Beck

Features: Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul, Gretsch White Falcon

This one also uses lots of rotoscoping, most of my guitar playing friends like this one because it's a story of a garage band trying to make it big.

K-ON!
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX-yENHkeMo"]K-ON! Ending 1 Full HD(1080p) - YouTube[/ame]

Features: Gibson Les Paul, Fender Jazz Bass, Fender Mustang

Series about girls in a school music club. It's hit or miss for people, they talk about music and play music alot but they also spend alot of time talking about nothing at all.

Macross 7
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbMLfwZcKHM"]Macross 7 - Clean Opening "SEVENTH MOON" - YouTube[/ame]

Features: The series is set in the future so there are recognizable body shapes but they don't match existing models.

There is an interested 80's rock/metal vibe along with some folky songs. The production values weren't all that great and the story goes off the rails alot but the main character plays his guitar in practically every episode.

Samurai Jam: Bakumatsu Rock

Features: Gibson Les Paul, J/P Bass hybrid

An anachronistic alternate history story about idol groups and rock bands during the Japanese Meiji revolution. The music is on the boy band pop side and the target audience is obviously teenage girls.

Yeah, good stuff from Japan.

For whose enjoy light RnR in the Sheryl Crow style -- check a japanese duo called 'Love Psychedelico'. They are really awesome.

:thumb:

I don't know if a native english speaker will notice some weird accent. For me that am a foreigner I never would suspect that they are japanese if I didn't already knew that.

:)

PS: I recomend the 'This is Love Psychedelico' album for a first listening.

The story arc for one of the main heroines is about her band.

Nana

Nana is a pretty intense drama with a girly girl and a punk girl, both named Nana. The series also resolves around their band trying to break out.

BanG Dream!

Another series about high school girls starting a band. The product placement is pretty strong in this one, they take every opportunity to show that ESP logo on the headstock.

The voice actors also perform the songs live in concert.
