Some of you veterans here might remember my story about 10 years ago where I lost my guitar to the pawn shop to pay my rent. Sad Shreddy that day!
Fast forward 10 years and what did I see on Facebook market place? You guessed it! Sunny's back!
Cost me WAY more than I think it's worth but who can put a price on love right?
Today, happy Shreddy!

WOW, you found your old guitar, NICE ONE ! Is that a 1971 ? The Les Paul Pick-Guard and the tone/volume control knobs w/plate tells me MAYBE that is the year, BUT.....anyone could have modified it and taken the time to sand the back of the neck to make it look like someone has played it all these years, yes?

BUT seriously, 1970 to 1972 (but probably not 1972) is my guess !

"AND THE YEAR OF MANUFACTURE IS ?"......????????

BTW, how far did 'SUNNY' get before you got her back ? Was it a Transatlantic type of find or was she simply around the block from your place ? After 10 years, OH $#!T !, anything could have happened...so now it looks to me like you two were meant for each other.

You a lucky Guy !

As far as I can tell it's a 72. The back of the neck? Yeah, that was me 20 years ago. I sanded it to get rid of the stickiness of the glossy nitro.
The tuners were changed out before I bought it. I didn't like that they were black so I swapped them out for some Grover Rotomatics from a L6S parts guitar I had. This happened in the early 90's.
I put the Tone Pros bridge on it about 15 years ago.
The guitar didn't travel far, only about 50 miles.
It looks just like the day I lost it (except for the strings)!
I bought this guitar originally in 1988 or 89. It really is nice to have her home again!

I cried a little. Thankfully she doesn't seem mad at me! We had about 2 hours of playing time for me to apologize last night.

Gotta love a happy ending! That baby is gorgeous, just the right amount of natural wear from loving use! It is good to know she wasn't abused while she was out on walkabout.

that's a great story, and an excellent ending.
Congratulations on having the $$$ necessary to pay the ransom.

I'm glad you got Sunny back.
I'd remove the strings and clean it everywhere with guitar polish
and use windex to get all the dead punk skin off the fretboard
and wipe that down with Gorgomyte... I'd lube the nut slots with
a mixture of vaseline and powdered graphite and re string it with
your preferred gauge. Welcome her home. She won't be mad
at you after a little TLC.

Tone Pros bridge was a really good move. Good thing the kidnapper
didn't sell that.

To the Col. I plan on giving her the full go over on the weekend. We had a nice 2 hour reunion when she came back. I don't think the last guy played it too much so she seemed really happy to be taken for a stroll!

Spent a couple hours cleaning and re-stringing today. She looks as good as she can!
