At this point I am certain David Gilmour was hevaily influenced by Stanley Turrentine and his 5 piece band, particularly his guitarist Eric Gale although every instrument is important obviously- especially that bluesy sax. I could say more but I dont have time at the moment. Just wanted to share this with anyone who's interested. Its great jazz songs like this that inspired a lot of great musicians. There are others but if you listen to the lead guitar there are parts nearly identical to the lap steel parts in Shine on you Crazy Diamond, by umm... Well you know.

Everybody's influenced by somebody. There's only 12 notes total. Only so many ways to put them together.
