Heh heh heg...lol
You won't regret itt Although, that JCM 900 combo is a bad SOB..
Same small amp I have and I absolutely love it! Perfect for playing at home and plenty of grunt for a gig. I put a JJ 5751 in V1 and a Celestion Greenback 10 speaker in mine and couldn't be more pleased with the results.
Just got this: an Elpico AC88. As some of you may know this is the same amp as the Sound City Studio 20 which was made by Elpico and rebadged as a Dallas-Arbiter product.
I had to travel some way to pick it up but the price I paid sort of balanced out the fuel cost and, on opening it up, I found a full (presumably original) complement of Mullard valves: 1xEZ81 rectifier, 2xEL84 power valves and three ECC83 pre-amp valves. Bonus!
Along with those I also found about 10mm of dust and grime which took me a few hours of work to remove with cotton buds, soapy water and switch cleaner. Now I can see the component values!
I haven't fired it up yet as I need to do a few checks before putting high voltage through its ageing components.
For those in the US who may fancy one here's one that's listed on ebay at the moment. OK if you've got $1295 to spare!
Mid 60's Sound City Studio 20 by Dallas-Arbiter London Sounds Killer! Super Rare | eBay
That coily cable is an original late 60's one!! Still works..
I can't remember if I have put my 2 cents in, but here's my small tube amp... All tube, 5 Watt Ibanez TSA5. Awesome bit of kit!
Gone are the use of Marshall full stacks... well, maybe for looks at festivals.
But here's what I use now-a-days for that stereo sound!
Just ordered one TODAY SUSI! Cant wait! I got the Blackstar Ht5r on da way!!
Be sure to post a review when you can ~
I'm kind of interested in one of these myself!
Will do, was torn between the Ibanez tube screamer and it, I need a combo amp for the band room, so my wife and kidz don't have to hear the Stack if I get a notion, I think this is the one, I'll let ya know.
Both my amps are smaller tube amps. Both fantastic.
Thanks, Pit - looking forward to the review!
I have the HT1r head with a HTV-112 cab but I mostly use headphones. It's one of the best headphone amps I've tried. Gotta keep the wife and neighbours happy.
Cub 8 (5 watts)....China-made.
Single 6V6 & 12AX7....still has the factory installed tubes.
It can do any genre of music one can think of. Takes a variety of pedals well.
Has an 8" Celestion speaker, but the old cheapo Legion 2x12 it sit's on is plugged in 99% of the time.
Apologies for the flash reflection in the last pic....left to right: power switch; pilot light (doesn't light up--but doesn't affect anything else); tone knob; volume knob; lo and hi inputs....
I have heard great things about the Cub8, look like a sweet little amp
Many great small watt amps on here! I'm a big fan of that. Here are my amps.
I recently got this Orange Micro Terror as well. Here it is sitting on a Lil' Night Train.
1957 Fender tweed Vibrolux. has a few caps changed and a Gold in it. The jensen was gone before i got it.
Oh..... I'm sorry..... you said small TUBE amps.......... oops!
is 13 whats too much?
Good to see those P90 SG's out there. I have a Lil' Night Train with 10 and 12 inch cabs, a JTM 1 watt combo and just purchased a Valve Jnr combo with a gain control added. Also have a Valvetronix 30 XL which doesn't get used much now.........I'm finding these little valve amps are a lot of fun - simple to use and great tones at acceptable home noodling volumes. I'm now beginning to understand why people collect amps too.
