I've seen these student aids before, from lap steel lessons with a fingerboard sticker, to a Japanese Shamisen book that had a strip of paper with the notation symbols to affix to the side of the neck.

He should play classical with no markers.

come on man... that just isn't right. I can see putting a marker on the 12th fret but man not a big fan of marking the others. Oh and why exactly did you need to mark the first fret???

Still... everyone should feel free to customize their guitar any way they see fit so if it helps you... that's what matters most. Can you feel the stickers when you move up and down the neck? That would probably be my main concern. Well that and my jamming buddies would for sure give me a hard time if I did that to my guitar. Of course... then they would probably comment on how maybe it will help my sloppy playing so its all good!

I knew a blind banjo player, and he had some stickers that he could feel on the back of the neck to help fast position changes.

Like worm said... we are assuming you wanted to have a little fun with it based on the original post. BTW, love watching that guy on military show! I use it to help me play guitar better. Sometimes I get lost where I am on the neck, or if I'm reading tabs having the fret markers help a lot. I also don't feel it when I'm going up and down the neck. I imagine at some point it will wear off and fall off and I guess that's when the training wheels comes off.
