I have a GNX4 & it seems as if it can do everything. Record to onboard compact flash, usb output/input to computed, good software included etc.

I listened to the Tonelab sound bytes on the MF page and they were very digital sounding...

I like my PodXT through a tube amp.

Does the Tonelab have the downloadable patches like Line6 has?

I have a Boss GT8 and a POD XT. The Boss GT8 is far superior in every way. Much easier to use and more effects.

The GT8 is $150.00 more and the Tonelab is $200.00 than a PodXT.

I don't use the stock patches..
The best part is being able to download user created patches and all the computer interface software to use.

The only downside is it is missing an AUX input...that really is a pain..... :(

I think it sounds great on many of the emulations. I don't think you can find one of these that doesn't sound digital on some settings. Depends on what you are running it through. Still need to run it through a tube amp for the best sound IMHO.

I play mine direct out to headphones when I want to be quiet.

i have a GNX3000, i know you didn't list it. but its really worth looking into. i don't know if its the same as the GNX4 (haven't played it) but this box is amazing.

very tube like, and it even cleans up nicely when turning the volume down on the guitar.

it also comes with recording software for your computer, though the on board one on the GNX4 is probably more convenient.

there are also really nice acoustic models in the 3k, you just have to tweak them till they sound perfect, but the potential is still there.

ill post some demos of some stuff i recorded with it later today, if i remember to, but for now...off to school >:( >:( :D

I like my PODxt, although I have not tried the others. I made money w/it, used it in several recording studios here in Austin and Lake Charles LA and had great results. I agree w/ Spunky and the others who say it sounds best live w/ a tube amp. I put mine into the power amp in on my HRDx. :coolsmiley:
