Own a Boss Katana Amp. Post your love for it here, share information, setting, mods and opinions. Have one? You must post pictures of your Katana with your favorite axe. Want one? Have questions, need that push to buy it? This is the right place. Let our community help you. So let's start this with mine. Tube guy, known modeling amp hatter, loving the Katanas. My all time favorite guitar which brought me to the ESG community. 2002 Gibson SG Special And here with some serious eye candy. Super light and skinny Ibanez S521. I am sad to say this but I lick her to see if she tasted like candy.
You beat me to it DFLCC! No worries, at least we now have a thread for it Right, better kick off the pictures then... My Katana 50 (now moved on to another fan off forum) with my Epi LP 1960's Tribute+ Faded Cherry Sunburst. Will have to take a pic of the Katana head with her too....
I am in the club. The OMJ likes his Katana 50. It is my only amp but it is my opinion that it was the right choice. It sounds great for the Blues I am trying to learn to play. It is light enough for my tired bones. It looks and sounds great with my PRS Santa SE.
I'll do the glamour shots with The Lady tomorrow. Until then some unboxing pics? I upgraded from an old Peavey Envoy 110 Teal Stripe.
I've applied "Pink Wall" and "Fear The Dark" to my CH1 & CH2. I've also swapped the Blues Drive for a "T-Scream" and the "T-Wah" for a "Rotary" just for the heck of it. Official livesets. http://bosstonecentral.com/liveset/category/katana/ I'm going to start monkeying with the "sneaky amps" later today. Later, I'm going to try out some third party software that seems promising, but I'm not going to link to it here nor do I advise others to just yet. Perhaps it's out of an abundance of caution I say that and perhaps a more than bit of not wanting to field questions about something I'm just tinkering with. No hostility intended. You post it, you're the expert.
Sneaky amps - love it! Looks like they were part of the GT-1 software / firmware that they used in the Katanas... Liking the Dual Rec!
Yesterday night 3 July 2017 Las Vegas NV with my 17 year old son. What a great time, what a great show.
I wanted to see them over in Tampa when they were here with Ghost. Scheduling + ticket prices made it a no go. Still bummed.
I have one, but Photobucket is giving me fits trying to get logged in. You'll just have to take my word on this. Oh yeah, I love it. Best $200 I've ever spent.
Photobucket isn't playing nice for forum folk anywhere. They want to charge exorbitant amounts of Do-Re-Me for third party linkage. You're better off uploading here or going to something like Imgur. BTW: Dave really does have a K50. We spent the half dozen hours trying out various official and unofficial livesets.
I know this is bad, while I am loving my Katana 50, I can see what an useful tool it will be if I upgrade to Katana 100. The included effect loop would make it an amazing tool when combined with my TRIO pedal or my DITTO. In addition the expansion from two channel to four is a plus. So I am thinking on returning the 50 and upgrading to the 100 1X12. I may consider the head.
You wouldn't be the first. My current needs and neighbor situation added to my night owl proclivities won't allow for the hundred, or I'd be right there in line with you guys.
That's why I went for the head - all the advantages of the 100w combos (effects loop, Midi, footswitch etc), but with the built in speaker for low volume practice, and option to plug in to a cab when needed (only occasionally for me, at a practice room or such) it opens up endless possibilities as far as cab type / make are concerned. Seems like I'm not the only one with this kind of use case...
I don't gig, so I may never use the 100W setting but that .5W may become my permanent power setting. The effect loop is so convenient to me, not for effects but for my loopers since it turns me into a one man band (Digitech TRIO). Not bad for a no band man. I believe this combination it will be an amazing creative and practice tool.
Dave, Dave, Dave... why don't you just send Photobucket a nice pic of your middle finger. Like Raiyn has suggested: Upload direct, or Imgur. If uploading direct, and file size is 1 meg or larger, it's very easy to resize the pic by percentage. Even a 5 meg pic reduced by 50%, still yields a file size under 1 meg.
No Katana Amp Owner here, but I do have a friend who recommended these. Like Raiyn, I too have a Teal Stripe Peavey Envoy 110 I got for $10 at an auction.
Hahahaha, I just paid the ransom... The adds were such a pain in the a$$ I bought an add free subscription. Much better now. They hit the wife's charge card monthly. She said it was worth it to not listen to me bitch about it. Like anyone, you just have to throw them a bone every so often.
Dude! No! That's $400 a year! Highway ¶¥¢<ing robbery! Transfer over to imgur.com and cancel the extortion payments.
Photo bucket are really taking the P..... I should have my site up and running soon, so at least I'll be able to store my pics there and link to them on here. Will have to see if there's an easy way to let others store their pics too, not had to do that before, so will need to figure it out...
