I have always liked Tom, even when I was into heavier music. If you are really gone, may you rest in peace!

A great songwriter and musician, a big loss if he's gone.

Never realised he was an SG guy.

He used an SG in many songs.

I keep reading conflicting reports so I guess there's nothing official yet. Uggh.

    Prayers

Tom was one of the most genuine entertainers I have ever seen. His iconic guitar and song styling will live on and be missed. I am so deeply saddened and affected that I did not sleep much last night and I am still quite shocked.

    R.I.P. Tom.

This song blew my mind in '79 when DTP came out. Still the tune I think of first when I think of Tom Petty.

He's the real deal. And his recent shows seem to have had a collection of guitars
carefully chosen to reflect the whole history of rock an roll... pretty cool.

And IMHO he stands as an icon himself, he could grab any guitar whether it's a '50s big box
ES 355 or a '60s style teardrop Vox, or an SG or a PRS or a Shredder or what. He'd sound
like himself, which is all we ever wanted anyway. Great artist.
