$100 for a Poker Chip from 1980, WTF ? UH, NO !!!! THATS JUST............NO !
No, I missed out. If I remember correctly I was playing a lot of bass in a Alice Cooper tribute group in the aughts (Dennis Dunaway is criminally underrated, one of my absolute favs), so buying new guitars wasn't on my radar. Then came the Johnny Cash tribute, so a Tele became a necessary armament. It's only last five years or so that I re-oriented on pretty much solely playing rock guitar and went bananas on a buying spree (the Covid lockdown didn't help) of guitars and building pedalboards.NICE ONE DUDE......did you get one of these 'ANGUS' Guitars ? IDK GIBSON USA WAS EVEN SELLING THEM BACK THEN.....too bad !!! These AC/DC SG's as well as the Iommi and Hendrix SG's will fetch a good $$$$ 25 years from now
IDK tho DUDE, I never want to buy a 'Players' spec'd. guitar.....if I get anything besides a GIBSON 'STANDARD' its going to have to have the specs I WANT on it, not someone else's specs, LOL !!!
BTW, did you ever find an acceptable Bill Ward CLONE ? that could be difficult...
Be prepared to have your patience severely tested, Dude. I placed an order in December of 2019 and am still waiting. No word on the status of my order unless I contact them. And then it’s always something along the lines of, “Your order is well under way. We’ll send you some pictures next week.” I would still like the guitar I ordered, but am regretting paying it off in advance at this point…The Sabbath tribute is limping along, got four players, but trying to corral four middle-aged guys into a coherent practice regimen always remains a challenge. Of course that didn't stop me from ordering a Jaydee Custom. They say it'll take 16 months to build and ship it to me, but I look at it as an exercise in patience.
I just looked, I thought surely you must be joking!+$65 shipping![]()
Yeesh. That's not encouraging, skelt. 36+ months and counting? That is a serious drag. Do they offer any reason why the guitar is being delayed? Are you tempted to ask for a refund?Be prepared to have your patience severely tested, Dude. I placed an order in December of 2019 and am still waiting. To be fair, I haven’t asked for many specifics as to why my guitar has been delayed so much. However, some customer outreach would be nice, especially if the lead time has more than doubled. Multiple ETAs have come and gone, without an email from them unless I send one first. They did site COVID and supply chain delays, which was expected. The latest response I received mentioned health issues that John has been dealing with. In light of that information, I’m reluctant to send a WTF email. I haven’t really thought about asking for a refund because I really want this guitar to work out… Sorry for the thread high jack, but thought you might want a heads up.Yeesh. An interesting little slice of Gibson history.
I think it's clear that he has a fairly large pile of cash from some resource and free time. I doubt that it's just from flipping guitars. It's not from just running a youtube channel except to the extent that he uses it to promote guitars he's selling.
WOW, R U getting 'the OLD BOY'No, I missed out. DUDE, that sounds? MAYBE..... NOT GOOD .......AT ALL......DUDE, Ya gotta figure that John Diggins is somewhere in his 70's by now ? After 'J.D.' is gone, is getting a Guitar from Jay-Dee Guitars going to be the same ? Should be, eh? ORVILLE GIBSONs been gone for 100+ years (?). BUT......Yeesh. GOOD POINT DUDE.....I've heard that the avg channel gets $3-$5 per/1,000 views....so you gotta have some viewers to make any type 0f $$$$....depends on the channel too ????He's a bit goofy at times, but he is very knowledgable, a self-taught Gibson historian if you will, especially about Les Pauls built in the last 30-odd years. Definitely an acquired taste, but once you get past the "he is who he is" conundrum, he's an entertaining distraction for 15 minutes of your time. As mentioned in my reply to Iaza616, his is more of a collector's channel rather than a player's channel and that won't appeal to everyone. There is a bit of vanity and false humility to him at times, I mean the guy must have at least several hundred-thousand dollars sloshing around that allows him to do what he does, but maybe he's gotten to the point where his YouTube channel is paying for itself? Which, in and of itself, would be rather impressive.
Well, since they can't get the Schaller 456 bridges anymore, I decided to get the JayDee Custom instead, not the Old Boy. A little bit fancier in the wood department if the photo is any indication.WOW, R U getting 'the OLD BOY'

IDK, I had been considering a JAY-DEE for quite a while but bought the GIBSON FLYING V 70's Tribute instead.
What bridge did you go with, Dude? There’s a picture or two on Instagram of a JayDee Custom with a Kahler. I thought it looked pretty sharp:Well, since they can't get the Schaller 456 bridges anymore, I decided to get the JayDee Custom instead, not the Old Boy. Andrew has always been very good at returning my emails as well. Let's hope he is correct that the reorganization will help get them back on track. Did you get into any discussion about hardware? I had purchased a Schaller 456 bridge and sent that in for JD to install. They are tough to find, but are out there.Andrew got right back to me. Here's what he said:
It would be fair to say that we have fallen behind with our orders.
This is partly due to covid, but also the fact that Jaydee himself has had health issues which have resulted in a lot of lost production time.
However, we are currently undergoing a big reorganisation which will help us increase production and we are aiming to clear our order book by the end of this year thus eliminating the 16 month waiting time.
You going for an Old Boy replica or just like the bridge?Andrew has always been very good at returning my emails as well. Both! I like the bridge, and I have an Old Boy on order (with some of my own specifications). You going for an Old Boy replica or just like the bridge?
