Wags suggested I post an introduction, so.....

"Tell us a little bit about you...." I'm 44. I'm here because I was doing research into what new guitar I should get because I gave my older neice my first guitar this summer and just bought my younger one a new one for her Christmas present (a Washburn WI16 - she wanted "fire" painted on it). She's 8 1/2. The older one is going to be 13 in February. I got both of them amps for Christmas too, so I figured it was time for me to get a new guitar and try again.

"...your talents..." None that I know of.

"...where you are from..." New York.

"...how you found etSG..." Google, I think.

"...the style of music you play..." I don't. I can't play. I took a few lessons, got bored and quit, went back after a few years, got bored again and quit and didn't go back.

I guess that's it. Except, How come no Owner's Manual?

I never took lessons. I still can't play, but I never get bored! ;)

I see Wags needs to ask better questions such as:

Who was your greatest influence in music?

    Whats your favorite adult beverage?

    Still got yer hair?

    WELCOME!~

    Welcom Unkie!

You can't play either? RIGHT ON!!

I have a few nice guitars, I gave up and started telling people I'm a collector.
Kinda takes the teeth out of that whole performance anxiety thing if they expect nothing impressive.

Yeah, I run thru the intro to Smoke On The Water, then do a couple of bars of Iron Man, really loud.
They will be satisfied with your ability and ask no more questions.

    You found the right place!

Favorite adult beverage: Coors Light and sometimes Heinekin.

    Bald? No.

Greatest influence in music? I've liked Neil Young longer than anyone, so I'll say Neil Young. He's also living proof that people need to learn when to call it quits.

"I have a few nice guitars, I gave up and started telling people I'm a collector."

I was thinking of that last night. I'd love to get one of the '65 G-400 limited editions.

"I never took lessons. I still can't play, but I never get bored!"

I got bored with the lessons. Playing a couple kids songs for a half hour every week - Greensleeves and that kind of stuff - sucks. And then playing more of the same kind of stuff for a week in between each lesson sucks even more. I know I was learning technique and training muscles and all that, but teach me something I care about playing and I might actually stay interested.

Anyway, I found the Owner's Manual!

    Thanks for all the replies.
