My Epi has scratchy volume pots and the bridge pickup has a hissing when you get you hand too close. Has anyone had this pu problem and what pots are the best for my axe? Thanx 8)

i had the same problem. and i would get massive feedback if i got my hand close....but i realized i was doing 2 things wrong....1.) i was playing right next to my computer screen and tv.....2.) i had to adjust the ground on my amp. after i did that i was golden. i really dont know why i replied to this because chances are you arent playing in front of a computer or tv...and your probably smart enough to set the ground right. lol

Thanx guys, I am headed to the guitar shop for cleaner now. I also am changing the position of amp and obtaining a power conditioner. I think I have some electrical interfernce in my pre-1930's house. I will check back with results.

I have a similar problem. But instead of a scratchy volume pot, my bridge tone pot is scratchy. I went and got some cleaner but that didn't work. I heard that dust and dirt can settle in the pot and you can get most of it out by twisting the knob back and forth several times but that didn't work either. Finally, I took it to the shop and had them do some work on some things and they said I might have to purchase a new tone to correct it. It's not really that big of a deal, it just gets really annoying and it's highly noticeable. So I guess I'm not really offering much advice here, I'm kinda in the same predicament and wanna know if there is anything else I can try to make that terrible scratching go away when i adjust my tone.

I used a pot cleaner and it fixed the that problem. I am going to the shop to have the guitar re-wired to eliminate any questions on wiring. I spoke to the tech and he does recommend the complete wiring upgrade. I will check back with results.

The tech recommended the complete rewiring upgrade......

Ever notice how if you got to Sears Auto Center, no matter what the problem, you need a battery, brakes, and tires?

Yes; he recommended the upgrade after 30 minutes of trying to sell me a new Gibson. Anything to get more of my money!
