ESG, r u meaning that some pickups ( tex mex) don't fit... " the pickguard, or the actual guitar such as how it is routed or what?"

I am thinking you mean the guard.

The guard mostly and sometimes the route maybe shallower in a Squier ..... easily overcomeable issues IF you want to break out the dremmel .....but some folks do not want to go that step ---so its better to check BEFORE you buy---- especially if your looking at some high $$$ Fender American style pups

Hey Tazz, I have a set I'm gonna pull out if you're not in a hurry. The guitar is loaned out to a buddy who is traveling around. He needed a backup. I also have an older set of Custom Shop Texas Specials if you're hard up. I think they came out of an older SRV.

I love the Dremel. However, I have not needed it to fit pups, but rather a proper 5-way switch.

The Texas Specials have a really bluesy sound, better than the TexMex in my opinion. The Specials are my second favorite Strat pickup, coming in second just barely behind the Cavalier STV Bengal Tiger set. If you want that super blues tone that can cover a lot of rock territory or rolled back for some mild cleans, these will do it! And I'm not trying to sell you on mine. I'll gladly hang onto em and use em one of these days. They're great pickups!
