Wood rot... That's why I wanna buy a piece of property in the boonies and make a home from steel shipping containers. Bite this termites... Spray it with a coat of automotive undercoat and no need to worry about rust.
HA...... funny you mention that we have thought about using those if we ever decide to "add on" to this place lol
There are storage yards full of these here in LA and Long Beach. You can pick one up for $800 to $3000. Seems as though these are cheaper to sell here in the USA than they are to ship back to China.
YEah they have em here too. Port of Tampa and Miami ........ YOu can buy them here in Lakeland people convert them to office space.....contructionsite storage and offices....all sorts of stuff. There is a Restaurant/Bar in Gulf SHores Al. made of them.
You have my sympathies. I need to tear down my deck and build a new one. My ideal home would be made entirely of a plastic poured over a mold. Impossible, I know, but still... It would be like a full-size Little Tykes house! I'd like it in a two-story colonial, please. No rot...no insects...nearly impervious to water damage...
Still waiting on my Silkyn- on Fedex out for delivery today. Soooo horny for it. Once I play it a bit I will swap a known good 12ax7 from another amp into each spot and compare. Read up on the biasing but am not ordering tubes till I get this unit checked over. Wav, did you and Sp8ectre meet up and get your new power tubes in and biased yet? Additional thoughts on the amp?
I'm meeting with him on the 1st when I'll be driving out there after work. I've played the amp a couple of times only as it is living in our living room for the time being. On this 3 day weekend I'll be cleaning up my office and setting up a more permanent place for it where I'll have room to hook up all of my pedals where I don't have to pick up all my toys when I'm done playing with them
I've been running a pair of 30watt 6L6-GC tubes for about 3 months...no troubles yet. Biased medium/cooler...around 68% dissipation. It sounds great, solid, and I expect to squeeze a decent life cycle from them.(barring any other disasters) Best of luck!
Take that heavy metal underneath the hood Baby, I could work all night, leave a big pile of tubes......
I believe this is the original thread where I introduced the Silkyn Super 50 to ESG forum members. All of you who purchased...even with the PT problems we have run into should be very happy today! It has been discovered that these amps were designed by Mike Saldano and Andy Marshall! They were also originally to use a PT designed by Bud Purvine. Going cheap on the PT is what sank the Silkyn ship and allowed these amps to passed on to us at a song... The original schematic is in the hands of a member on the other board and available to forum members. Boys we may have a piece of history in our hands here and an amp that may escalate in value over time!
