Hey guys, I'm new here because I got what I think is an old SG (and is my first Gibson) it was a lucky find the other day!!! My friends mom brought home a messed up Gibson SG from an a garage sale or something, it was free. My friend is going off to college and has a Gibson LP so he gave it to me. The guitar has been painted over and I am currently refinishing it with my uncle (who is a master woodworker). The serial number has been painted over - never to be found. I can't figure out what kind it is. I did a little research and I think it's an SG Special - don't know the year or anything though. It has three knobs, a 3-way switch, and a 2 humbucker pickups without plates. The headstock front has not been altered, same thing with the fret board, but it the tuning heads and the knobs have been changed out. Here are some pictures below.
