One man's GAS is another man's madness. The heart wants what it wants, so it's futile to apply reason. I have had everything I need for quite some time, but I keep buying and swapping and enjoying the hunt. I've regretted a few moves, but they're easily fixable, and because I give up something every time I pick up something, it's (very nearly, okay not quite) cost neutral. That said, I would be a hard pill to let that SG P-90 go.

i hear ya. thing is, they can be had with relative ease, whereas not so much with the Vox. truth be told?

I want a Cherry one anyways ;)

I tried all day to no avail to complete a trade for my SG back, cuz it's on kijiji alreggie! almost got her too!

Only got to play the amp for half an hour after work before family duty called. I work nights tomorrow so finally tomorrow I can really give this beauty a whirl.

I opened her up to check out the glass and I have Russian EH Rectifier and EH EL84. The PA tubes were all Groove Tube 12ax7c bad boys. Just so happened that my NOS RCA long blacks from '55 showed today, originally for my CC2. So in they went, with a new JJ in V2. I fired it up at midnight but i got yelled at. :( But they work, and sound nicey nice! Cmon 9am!

I took some pics, just for you. thanks for the well wishes and dig these!

Good. Now plug it into the AC15HW, combine the inputs, crank it and record something. I wanna hear how it sounds compared to my AC15C1RD. Plus, sound clips are just ear porn anyway and we love porn. :naughty:

I have an SG P-90 and I love it. Great guitar. But dude, that is a beautiful amp and I'm sure it has amazing tone. It seems like you made out pretty good. I don't know much about nothin' regarding hand wiring or whatever...but for $2K, you can bet some serious care went into the making of that amp. I can't say I wouldn't make the same trade given the opportunity. Congrats!

It wasn't easy making the decision, but the second i heard the amp i knew the other guy was a fool. It is such a sweet, sweet amplifier! There's about 6 SG's to be had in my area right now, but i cant find another AC15HW1X listed ANYWHERE. I rolled some NOS RCA 12AX7s in her and have since ordered a NOS Mullard EZ81, a matched pair of NOS Tungsram EL84 and another Mullard NOS 12AX7. I've never heard an amp like this before. I'm hopeful to get that (NOS) Cherry Std pictured above before the end of the weekend. I will certainly not be obtaining another CC2 though!

What's the difference between the Standard with P90s and the SG Classic?

Neck on the Classic is slightly fatter, the Classic has dot inlays vs the traps on the Standard and the Classic has white binding vs the creme on the Standard.

You know... when I started reading the thread, I thought... "no way in Hades would I trade a guitar for an amp..."

And I wouldn't, for a Vox... but the more I read, the more I think, for the right amp (in your case, this was it), I'd do the same.

Congrats! While not a Vox fan, I do recognize their tone and mark in the music industry and one of my favorite guitar players (Brian May), is obviously a big Vox dude. Someone came to me with the right amp... I might part with a guitar.

Hahaha i hear you! Dont forget i included a greenback loaded AC30CC2..

But man...I LOVE LOVE LOVE this amp! It literally sings. Loaded her with NOS glass and it is literally sublime.

Also, i replaced that P90 SG within the week with a NOS unplayed 2007 :) And they are MAGICAL together!

I'd trade my THR, no prob. It's generic, can be replaced. The Egnater... I got that for a good price, just under $300... I love it... and I've seen indication the new Tweaker is different (upgraded... I don't necessarily like "upgraded"). The Lead 12? No way, in Hades would I part with it. Can't find them in this good condition, typically. It's had decent money/time put in it, including fashioning Baltic birch back boards, to match the cabs, to go with the speaker upgrades.

The head itself, while SS... is an analog circuit, a classic one... and while it may not be the only sound/tone I hear, or desire... it's a big one. Rocking out to some ZZ tonight, just reaffirmed it, again. And while I may not play like him, who wouldn't mind plugging into/using Billy G's rig? Plus, the SGJ and it, are a match made in guitar heaven. Anyone that doesn't believe me... you can grab the combos for typically $149, from GC... get a warranty to, if you want. But, then you will know. I ain't lying, nor exaggerating. :D

Heck, had I taken the Lead 12 down to GC and plugged in that 2002 Explorer, instead of my THR. I might just trade something in, to get it. Like... maybe the THR. Haha... Hhm...

Love the replacement axe, you got!
