LIKE! Sysco, thanks for posting that, it just dawned on me that we could make this thread a repository for all the cool preset changes and tweaks... Guys like me who struggle with the settings would benefit hugely.. i tried your tweak, and i dig it, thank you
I haven't even managed to load that library and choose it... &, I think I probably threw that piece of paper away as trash (if I got it in the first place; I'm not very good at this... The amp is good though.
I've been using the THR10 for a year and a half or so. It's frankly the best gear purchase I have ever made. I messed with the editor when I got it, but I don't really care about it much. I live on the plexi setting - gain on max, treble middle bass around noon or a little less. Add a little hall reverb. Volume knob on the guitar to clean it up. Works great as a recording interface with GarageBand too. I use it for bass and even keyboard for low volume late night practice. My Suhr Badger sits waiting for practice and gigs while the THR10 gets tons of play time. Buying this and my DigiTech Trio pedal have made playing at home a lot more fun!
Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth, i also spend most of my time on the plexi. I dont max the gain though, i have gain and master around noon, bass at around 1pm, mids at 2pm, treble dimed, splash of spring reverb, and Robert is your fathers brother! This depends on guitars though. This is with my dimarzio loaded tele. With my les paul, i up the master a touch, back off the bass to about 11pm, mids to noon, treble to 1pm. I get that very pleasing fat, rich overdrive sound. Simply love it
Cool... another Cook in da kitchen... A DigiTech TRIO: sounds like good friends to jam with, that'll never drink up all your beers...
Bummer... I think I might have misunderstood your post. The "library" you speak of is in the THR Editor software which you already have or can be downloaded with the most current version at: http://download.yamaha.com Plus if you go there, download the Steinberg USB Driver that applies to your computer's operating system. This is not to be confused with the Steinberg/CUBASE recording software, which you'll need to setup a free Steinberg account and then use that code to download a free version of CUBASE. And, there's always Yamaha's customer service to maybe reestablish your lost code... hopefully...
I did download the driver, and stuff works, but I think I might have deleted the libraries? Anyways, I don't like the sw, and I don't record, so I just need to get on with practicing!
Ha ha... I haven't gotten into recording either. The World is not quite ready to appreciate my unique techniques and custom scales...
Floyded strat into thr10, brit hi, gain at noon, bass at 11oclock, mids at 2oclock, treble at 3oclock, delay and reverb at half, right in the 80s bon jovi style corn fest hair metal groove... Find your self gettin your livin on a prayer groove on... throw in some squeelies and you could call me ritchie!?
I thought these Yamaha amps were brilliant when they first came out a few years ago, then word started circulating about the sound cutting out or something. I hope Yamaha has sorted that problem out by now.
Yes, earlier in the thread you would see some troubleshooting ideas. When i was trying to figure out my amps squeels, did a fair whack of reading on all the thr known issues, Turns out gen1 had a gammy power supply. Yamaha rectified this and replaced power supplies. The next fixed geeration had a small wiring displacement issue that caused interference nd noise on high gain. again yamaha replaced these, but turns out it was a 5 min fix with a small cable tie. Next was a software upgrade. From Syscos amp, we can see they fixed the displaced wire issue too. Sysco very smartly picked up that the odd noise his amp was putting out, was because of a noise gate feature that was activated on his amp. Switching this off sorted his out to. So as far as i can tell, most of the issues with these amps have been dealtmwith by yamaha. It is a great product imho
I'm digesting every word in here as I prepare to play in a quieter setting and I'm leaning toward a THR10 or 10x
and we are back on page 1! all the Katana boys have been having all the fun lately, i was also in space of thr10 or thr 10x, i was nervous the thr10 gain sounds werent gainy enough. they were , so thats what i came home with
Just yesterday, I noticed an ad either on eBay or Reverb, a used but mint condition THR10 for $200... and I think with free shipping!
Found the ad. It's at the Gear Page: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/yamaha-thr10.1849357/
Thanks. Its getting shipped to me this week. Which means I'll be able to play my somewhat new Naked SG through it in August once I pickup both in 10 days!!!
