The young lady who lives next door to me had an uncle who was in his
early 50's and a very active outdoorsey type. He was killed about 2 weeks
ago in a snowmobile accident. No, he did not crash his snowmobile.

He was killed when his snowmobile was "t-boned" by a charging moose.
:wow:

No disrespect ment. But it sounds like an episode of south park with kenney.
But on a serious note, it must be hard for the family to come to terms with what happens.

I jumped the reservation!
Sorry, we police have a hardened sense of humor. It's how we can deal with tragic moments and still do the job and keep our sanity.

But...... I bet that moose didn't have insurance either!
Doooh! I did it again!

Back in the 60s I had a cousin out in Mills Co. Tx, who found an old sleeve gun, a gambler's weapon, meant to be concealed in one's sleeve and activated by an elastic band attached to the trigger so that a tug on the band fires the weapon . Jay was curious and not known for his cautious nature . While examining the gun, looking right down the barrel, apparently, he simutaneously tugged the dangling band and the gun fired, the bullet striking just above the left eye, glancing off his forehead and clipping the top of his ear . Since he wasn't mortally wounded, he went to the bathroom cabinet and got iodine and gauze and patched his wounds. Four days later he was hosting a dinner for his neighbors when one of them inquired about the bruises and bandage over his eye . He went to the table where he'd placed the antique, picked it up, told the story, re-enacting the event in perfect detail, down to looking down the barrel and pulling the trigger . The second shell's charge was stronger than the first . I have yet to encounter a family member who, after almost 50 years, can control their laughter when hearing or telling that story . I am snickering just typing it . It was just such an appropriate exit for the stubborn, ignorant and accident prone guy Jay was all his life, that those of us who knew and loved him best spent the night before his funeral trying to recall a serious story to tell in his eulogy, but kept recalling farm and fishing and hunting accidents and his distrust of indoor plumbing until he was bitten by a startled raccoon in his outdoor retreat on a late night visit . So if they were like my family, maybe it didn't come as that much of a shock .

The antique firearm went to a collector in Oklahoma City in 1968 . He was later killed by it,but intentionally, wielded by an angry soon to be ex-wife .

That's terrible, but very funny. Being ex military, I have a very dry sence of humor. You had to have to get through the thought days. But I do believe when we lose someone close we have to think of the funny tins you spent together, even though you feel bad its good to smile. I've also heard that humans make jokes out of bad things, as it can help them understand and come to turms with what has happens. Like a robbing hood film I see. "I good some bad news, I will tell you it in a funny way#

I had a toy sleeve gun in the late '50s after seeing
one in the movie "Sheriff of Fractured Jaw".

I am a firm believer in living every day to the fullest. If I had to go... being taken out while out enjoying nature would be fine with me. As for that gun... broke the first rule of gun safety... every gun is assumed a loaded gun so never point it at anything you are not willing to shoot!

Tell it to Terry Kath, another sad case.

How stupid can you be to tempt fate by looking down the barrel again?
I'm not really a superstitious person, but maybe that gun is cursed! It seems to kill everyone who owns it! :)
