The core is showing. Got these DR Neon colored freebie strings from some bundle deal and figured what the heck let's try them on the old SG. I also noticed the color matches the string colors on the Rocksmith 2014 game.
They are colorful all right....those strings would have been fun in the late 60's, I could have stared at them and spaced out.
Got some on my bass. After a while the paint starts to peel off. See the D string. But all and all they are funky looking and don't sound all that bad.
...well, you can see that many of us prefer a particular sound or feel in the strings we use, rather than any visual effect. I will guess that to be a rare consensus on ETSG. But you should change them before they fray or peel IMHO. I enjoy your photographs even so. May I suggest that you also get similar colored laces for your sneakers when you perform with this? Also, do they glow in the dark, or look fluorescent in Black Light? I am no stranger to trippy effects. But I like to keep mine subtle, so that from a distance no one would ever suspect. *laughs
The Col. has some of the sexiest axes around! There's somethin' about black hardware... I gotta go buff somethin' now. Biddlin ;>)/
They sound fine. I can't say they are better or worst than my usual D'adarrio 9's i used before. My ears aren't that good. I do noticed with these DR NEON 10's, I can tune it faster and it's holds in tune better, meaning the needle on my tuner doesn't bounce around as much, it's pretty stable.
My strings got so worn that they were affecting the innotation (think that how to spell it). Never expected it but it was a welcome surprise considering it could've been a lot more serious
i spent a few hours on the SG today with the new strings. I want to say these Neon strings are more slippery cuz of the colored coating. on more than one occasion I had trouble grabbing the strings for bends as the string would "slip" off and such. It did make sliding around on the frets easier. Mostly just having issues bending. also I can see some of the color already coming off my high E string where I attack the strings with my pick. Either way these are fun strings to have, looks very bright and happy but I probably wouldn't buy another set.
Mhm. why is this happening. I wore down those strings already to the core, Seems to be the same spot/same string. Is it the fret?
That ONE string on that ONE fret...yeah, it's got to be the fret. I'd have it looked at. Also, I saw your post a few weeks back and all I could think was "Someone's about to play some Rocksmith..." Those are the exact string colors in Rocksmith, so yeah. I have a set of those strings, but I haven't tried them yet because I really don't need 'em to play Rocksmith. I might give 'em to a friend if he gets a guitar and starts using Rocksmith to learn how to play. Might help him out.
