Your Preferred Pick?

Which is your preferred choice of pick?

Personally I primarily use my fingers, but when not I prefer my picks relatively thin.

My favorite is the light gray Dunlop USA Nylon .60mm:

Using the round corners for single string picking, as the pick is slightly thicker and stiffer there, but still more flexible than the tip of a .73mm nylon pick, and using the thinner and more flexible pointy tip end for chord strumming.

However I think next time I am buying picks that I am going to get some Dunlop Nylon Max Grip .60mm picks instead, since those are essentially the exact same picks, just with a higher raised grid pattern, but placed much further away from the round corners of the pick, which I think would be an advantage the way I use my pick, since as soon as I wear the pick down to where the raised grid pattern starts it will rub against the strings when picking and produce unwanted scratching noises.

Depends what I'm playing. A fair amount of the time I don't use a pick. Most of my picks are cut from squeezy detergent bottles. I like the feel of those.

I like heavy or medium picks if im using one, im not too picky. I was also recently turned on to V-Picks and i do enjoy using it.
This is the one i have. Carlos Santana and Billy Gibbons and a few others also have their version.

Dunlop gator-grip 1.5mm for electric, Dunlop gator-grip 0.7mm for acoustic.

Used to only use thin picks but I finally bought a pack of the 1.5mm picks and forced myself to play them for a while. I vastly prefer them now. The only reason I still go thin for acoustic is because I'm primarily a strummer and don't like the amount of "click" on the attack of each string. However, I do for electric - gives a nice, punchy sound to the initial attack on both chords and single-note stuff.

Dunlop Jazz III's, 1.2 mm. Use the rounded shoulder as opposed to the point.....gives the picked note a sharper clarity imo.

I use fender extra heavy picks. I don't know the width but they get the job done

That was first time I actually went to a store and tried a bunch of picks, and really narrowed it down to what felt fluent and played easy. Little harder to catch the pinch harmonics going back to a bigger size pick, but they really do flow over the strings.

A year or two ago I tried out these:


...and now it's hard for me to play with a "regular" pick!

A few weeks ago, I tried out these:


...and absolutely LOVED them!

At first, anyway. Initially I felt they honestly made me play better: more precise, at least. Super awesome! Then after 2 band practices, they kind of lost their sharp point and sweet beveled edge and now I feel about them the same I do any other pick. Only problem here is they are on the spendy side; if they weren't so expensive I'd buy more and deal with the short lifespan.

So I'm back to the Tortex Sharps.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
