I know where those stickers came from. I have a sheet of them in my Rocksmith game box. I've never used them because by the time I got the game, I already knew what frets where where. But I could see how it would be useful to someone just starting out playing, especially playing Rocksmith. The game scrolls the fretboard towards you using numbers, so it makes it a bit easier.

They also sell custom-colored string packs for Rocksmith, but they're ridiculously over-priced...like $20 for a pack of 6 strings.

yeah, as long as the markers can come off, use it to become a better player. one old time road warrior, when asked by a couple of young players if he had any advice for someone just getting into the music scene... replied:
'Two words: GET GOOD."

That says it all, really. anything that helps you get good will stand you in good stead later, when you need every millimeter of talent you can produce... in order to just hold your own against sooooo many other excellent performers.

...but make sure you take them off before joining any band, or you'll never hear the end of it. They'll stick those on everything... on yer bike handle bars, on the steering wheel of yer car, they'll bribe yer girlfriend to get them (fake) tatooed on her leg... every time you turn around, there'll be more of them.
on yer mikestand, on yer iPad, on the clock on yer wall...and on and on and on. At least that's what I'd do if you were in my band with those on yer SG.

Ding ding ding! Yup. Rocksmith. The one learning tool that has helped me 75% more than anything else.

I don't know about this approach. I can make my orange tomcat, Lancelot, play Mary Had a Little Lamb on the Casio keyboard, by making a laser pointer touch the right keys. That doesn't make him Van Cliburn .
BTW I never had training wheels,either.

It looks like someone figured out how to take advantage of a swimming pool pickup route...just fill the whole thing with pickups.

I remember a nice organ store in a mall in N. Richland Hills TX that had many models within. A couple had keys that lit up displaying the notes in the keys. Then if ya pressed one the entire key would light up. Damnedest thing I ever saw.

My mother taught me to identify middle C the first day of my lessons and then we went from there. I mean there's only 12 keys (unless you count the octave) and it was pretty easy to learn them the way I was taught. But that was long ago in a galaxy far far away ........

I have a friend (Harmonica Player) who is trying to make sense of blues progressions, 12 bar, 16 bar, 8 bar etc. He's taking a technical approach and getting nowhere in a big hurry.

I think you have to somehow get to the point where you feel the music and where it's going. Let things like finger position (7th fret/4th string etc) go until you figure out where the music is headed.

Just my opinion, and I'm not the best guitar player that you have ever seen, so take it with a grain of salt.
