She was a "six monther" our personalities were too similar. That's awesome for about six months then.....

My experience has been the exact opposite...dated/married women with personalities and interests that were distinctly different than me for many years. Then I met a girl with the same sick sense of humor and interests, and we've been married for almost 20 years now.

I need the counterbalance. SWMBO and I agree on many points, everything else we discuss and find common ground on. "6ers" are awesome until you find the things you disagree on or have a responsibility that needs tending to.

Just kidding; glad you guys found women that dont make you feel like you want to kill them or yourselves.

I've said this before, this might even be copypasta, but I've been with mine for going on 17 years now come Aug 1st and though I refer to her as SWMBO online I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've had so-called "perfect" relationships before - the nauseatingly cute kind where you're all lovely dovey and finishing each others sentences even though you've only been with them for a month because your personalities are almost completely the same.... Then six months later the relationship implodes because you have no grounding influence.

In my mind a relationship is like an electrical circuit - you have to have both positives and negatives for things to work. We can have rational conversations where we disagree, but we'll listen to what the other has to say. Hell, we can have full on loud arguments, but we always work through it. The trick is to find someone who's crap you can put up with and who is willing to put up with yours, to a point. You both have to be willing to call each others bullshit - and to be called on it.
Going back to the circuit analogy: SWMBO acts like a pot for for me; she balances my tone or volume by sending the excess signal to ground and I help her to rock.:D

Wade Wilson: Uh…This is my most prized possession.
Vanessa Carlysle: Wham?
Wade Wilson: No, no, no. Wham! “Make It Big” is the album that George and Andy earned the exclamation point.
