I am nothing short of impressed & happy after getting this during MF's last $300 off sale.

Yes, Alpine White is whiter than day old snow!

I originally ordered this guitar at the end of October '16 as a Christmas present to me from Santa when I seen MF put an Alpine White with Gold hardware on sale for $300 less than normal! Not only was this a great price for a double-neck Epiphone, it was the much rarer Alpine White version which I always thought looked simply stunning, elegant & lustingly beautiful!

After taking the guitar outside in the fading mountain induced late afternoon sunset (the sun actually swings & hides behind the surrounding mountains before setting, giving us an hour or so of false evening twilight) I couldn't help but hear an old RUSH song running through my head from their 1975 Fly By Night album, namingly, 'By-Tor and the Snow Dog'! Now I'm thinking 'Snow Dog' just may stick on this Alpine White 1275.

Epi 1275 'Snow Dog'

After resetting string height & intonation, and properly re-stringing the strings that would not hold tune as they all came simply pushed through the string eyelets & wound, I was not only happy with the classic rich & organic tone of the pups, I was comfortable enough to take it out on a gig!

This guitar was nothing short of an attention getter from the moment it was taken out to the moment I put it away! Even the guys in the band were fawning over this Epiphone Double-neck. In fact, the fact that it was merely an Epiphone & not a $3,000+ Gibson ($7,000+ if you go for the white Don Felder Gibby version!) never even crossed anyone's mind. Thats how impressive the looks were on our first night out together.

Things only got better as I played song after song on this guitar eventually going through an hour & 15 minutes of Classic Rock, Hits from the 70's-80's & up & the occasional Latin groove foray. She did it all with a quality tone & a very cool style all her own!

The evening can best be summarized by the words of the keyboardist who at the end of the gig as I was putting her away yelled across the room, 'It's a keeper!'

Sounds like you got a bargain, and a great find too! Alpine white is gorgeous on anything SG-shaped. :)

I've heard you can get some interesting sounds by playing on one neck, whilst using just the pick ups from the other neck. Have you tried that yet? I'm curious if it's a characteristic of all twin necks...

Thanks & yes I have played around with playing one neck yet having only the other necks pup (& pups) on. It is a very haunting sound similar to a distant & heavy reverb. As you may expect, playing notes that have correlating open strings will come through louder than notes that don't resonate through similar related open string notes.

So ,you get this distant multi-level response that has the loudest response from the same exact notes as an open string, 2nd loudest is the related octaves of the open note, then we have the 5ths closely followed by the 4ths coming through pretty strong still with the major 3rds being noticeably lower still followed by the minor 3rds. A natural 2nd & notes a half step away off scale are very distant and barely resonate through the open strings at all, yet, they still can be heard.

There also is a difference between playing like this on the 12 string vs the 6. Playing in the 6 string with the 12's pup(s) on is heavier on the Reverb effect & you can swallow up your note playing with too much ringing string effect if you are not careful.
Playing the 12 string with the 6 pup(s) on is much more controllable & allows the notes being played to be heard a wee bit better in the mix.

And of course, pickup selection colors the tone & response as well.

That makes this a very strange & unique effect that is yet to be digitally reproduced! lol It also makes me wonder about the possibilities of selecting what notes you might what to have as open notes in order to compliment a scale or modality a little more effectively.

Sorry about the long answer, I hope it was insightful & maybe even interest peaking enough to get you to consider buying one for yourself!
I mean c'mon, $799.00 for a new double-neck wearing Alpine White & Gold hardware is a hard thing to resist bro!
Keep watching MF. They have been going on & off sale for months now.

Beautiful axe and some awesome mojo! I've wanted to play a 12-string electric again for a while now.... I remember picking up a 12-string Mexican Strat at one point and thinking it sounded really unique and haunting.

Good NEWS Bro B!!!

Can't wait till you get to try my Epi Lester with T Tops and Bone Nut through a couple 50 watt heads I hope to get tip top and then on your own gear.

Then I can steal that 1275 from ya to hurt your ears with.
