I mod guitars here and there, but the SG really is built and designed to be mod-proof. What exactly could you do to the guitar that would make it better than it already is? Well, I did find something to make my SG a better instrument. I performed major surgery on her and added four knob position indicators/pointers:

Man, the guitar plays and sounds like a dream now! Was an expensive and difficult mod to do, but well worth it.

I looked at my axes this morning and according to dependent double blind (pun intended) tests, that improves the tone of those guitars.

But keep in mind that they must be mine for this to work. So if anyone has a guitar that they would like me to lay eyes on just ship it over along with the bill of sale and I'll get right on it!

(Damn with BS like that I should run for public office!)

Here's what I'm thinking: everyone knows a guitar's tone comes from the knobs, right? It's a scientific fact; why else would they be called "tone knobs?"

So why keep all that extra tone inside the guitar, bottled up inside a cavity enclosed with plastic?

Why not cover the cavity with wood, the grains of which are porous enough that the tone molecules can abdicate their synthetic internment to romp and play, carefree, in their natural habitat.

Seems like a good idea to me.

So since we are talking about Gibson SGs that are manufactured in Nashville, TN USA, or Memphis, TN USA, the GMT of Gibson would be USA CDT correct? I'm just saying,

If this were in the Epiphone section then we'd be all over the planet for time zones.

Well considering that the Internet uses NTP which itself is based on UTC which is the primary standard in world time, wouldn't it be based on the time on Gibson's servers?
