Friend had a Gator n he said it's junk. Not sure bout the other.
Try Music go Round, Pawn Shops, ebay, craigslist, Other used gear places and you might score a nicer hard case for a decent price. My Gibson Classic I just got used from a private seller had a TKL case which seems decent.

I checked to make sure, my bass player has one of the Gator cases he's very happy with. The shrouds are a nice feature, too. The TKL has thicker lining.

The latches on this one are supposed to stand up to TSA plug-uglies and baggage handlers.

SKB SKB-61 Deluxe Double Cutaway Electric Guitar Case | Musician's Friend

$ 50 OEM Gibson cases are easy to find at local pawn shops in my area. This may be less true where you are. I have a couple of tkl cases and think they are superbly made and offer excellent protection. I also have some SKB cases and like them very much, but they don't feel as solid as their Canadian cousins.

Biddlin,, this is the exact case I was mentioning. The SKB is another Fine choice. I now have SKB's for my Pearl drums, Bass, Strats n Teles, Factory Gib or TKL for SG, and Epiphone cases (kinda leatherette covered) for my Epi ES 175 and Epi LP. The Epi's do make nice plushy cases( I am almost afraid to muck up the cases they look so nice). Good stuff, but not sure price for G400-Sg Style in the Epi line.

i have one of the Musicians gear cases for my SG. It's well made, fits the guitar snugly, and cost is reasonable.

I got a RoadRunner hardshell case from Musician's Friend for around $99. It's been serving me pretty well.

+1 on the SKB-61 case. I bought one of the SKB cases for my Telecaster, and it fit so perfectly and seems so rugged that I now have three of them. I bought one of the SKB-61 cases for my Epiphone Wilshire. That's not a perfect fit because the case is designed for SGs, G-400s and ESP Vipers. But the case adapts when you keep putting the Wilshire in there and it's worth it. It's hard to find a case that fits the Wilshire.

But I bought another one for my SG Special and that fits right in, very snugly.
I have the Gibson hardshell case for my SG faded, and that one's very elegant but I am always looking out for it... like I'm going to gouge it loading in and out of gigs.

The SKB needs no babying. Built like a tank and it can't be gouged or dented, very practical. Not as elegant as the Gibson case, but more of a workman's guitar case.

Watch for them to go on sale... they're pricey. But I bought mine when they marked them down and got them for like $88 or so. Highly recommended.

No one has suggested rondo music yet? Those are pretty good cases for very cheap.
