Shortly after the 'format update' he left. He didn't care for the way the change went down without warning or input & had real time consuming issues learning to operate the new format so he basically said fvk this place I'm going where I'm appreciated, respected & don't have to deal with changes I don't want to have... er something like all that done up in Wade's 'woe is the old guy - time for dinosaurs to die off' sense of drawn out southern charm. Agonizing really. Can't say it didn't hurt & upset me just a tad.

Nothing like the real dirt reality bruddah. Feels like you can just roll around in it & feel it get all over ya don't it?

I personally didn't mind it. Hell I even preferred the change.

A lot of folks didn't like it though.

But I didn't think it was a big enough deal to just quit posting over.

There were, and still are, people here who cared about Wade and were concerned with his fragile state of health. I've wondered many a time what might have become of him.

I guess we'll never know.

Didn't you notice things had changed & some stuff had moved around?
The thing that miffed me most was we lost all our saved pictures without warning! It really sucked & there was never an apology of any kind. Just threats to stop complaining. Oh there is that real life dirt no one likes to roll around in. Now it's all over everything. Darn!

Worse still we lost the one thing that made us a true factual resource... all of our reference material links were gone as well, again without a chance to save anything ourselves. Some people like Wade & myself just see that as not thinking about us members here that used the site regularly.

I'm over it but I'm not going to sugar coat the reality of what happened either. It did suck because it was way more than just a format change when you look at it through open eyes.

Odd. However this site is monetized, it is largely due to the countless hours of free writing/content we so generously donate. Then, when we ask for the privilege of paying to advertise the site on a tee shirt, we are ignored. Not the best business model.

It made it easier to navigate the site on my iphone. That's the part I liked about the change.

Other than that, it was a strange time indeed.

On a side note...

Believe it or not, this is still in the works. I have not forgotten about it, nor has eS.G. who is still dealing with Alex on this.

Wade moved on to another forum, which I also visit, though not as often as this one. However, he's fallen silent there, too.

His last post there was in February.

To be honest, the wait has killed the spirit of it for me. I will purchsse it because I said I would, but it shant see the light of day. I am already donating my clever prose and that is for the love of the equally wonderful responses you all repay me with. I will fall silent on this topic now, for restraint is proving difficult.

Sadly I have found the bottom line for all these sites is $$$. We are all here at someones leisure and they can run the sites any way they see fit. If this place didn't have some of the coolest online friends I've ever had I'd have been gone long ago...the missing "button" issue on a sister site has been ignored and I'm guessing will never return and I rarely visit or contribute there any longer...

This is a symbiotic relationship. 15-20 members are responsible for 85% of the posts. Content drives traffic. Traffic = dollars. That is gives those contributing members rather substantial clout if there were included to act as one. Just saying.
