In a larger venue, mic it with a Sennheiser 609. Works for me.
Pick it up with one hand and walk out, after all the hoopla is over.

I'm with the Col 105% on this one.
Wells Fargo Center in Philly.
19,000 seats.
1 Peavey Classic 30 w/Jensen P12Q speaker upgrade.
5 Boss pedals.
1 SG 61 RI.
1 E609.
Yeah, that was me.

I have no trouble getting great tone at any volume out of my Trinity 18-Watt, Ceriatone JTM45 or Bugera 1960 (cheap Chinese 1959 copy).

YES!
We should all be able to get "our tone" at any volume and in any sized room.
I feel that if someone can't do that and is in a 25X30 room with a dimed
Marshall half stack something is very wrong with their methodology.

My rehearsal space is a 25 x 40 foot room and I barely get above 3 on the volume before it is too loud for the singer. I have to run lots of pedals to get the sound I need. No need for a giant amp with lots of power. I will never be a stadium player!

I was in in a band with a chick singer (still am by the way) who felt the same way. She totally missed the fact concerning how important the power of electric guitar is to a whole lot of music & how it looses the desired effect when it gets turned down & thinned out. The trick is to find that full & powerful sound that doesn't obliterate everything else from being heard.

It took me sticking to what I know by politely refusing to be dominated & for her to see many people come up to me over the years giving me kind compliments like saying how 'awesome that solo was' or raving excitedly at the end of a song or set "man that was awesome dude you fvk'n nailed that ****'' and many other such heartfelt compliments & niceties for it all to sink in for her & see beyond herself & her original perceptions. She's come a long way & no longer complains about guitar volume.

Let's face it, Lots of everyday folks just get turned on by rock'n guitar orientated music.

To me there is no doubt that the guitar is a powerful emotion summoning instrument that is meant to be played loud enough to be felt both body & soul.
Hmmm, I may have to use that in my signature now! LOL
But who the fvk quotes himself anyway huh?

Here's what I use to annoy the neighbours, my "valve" amp.. Plugged into a Palmer 2x12, it makes more noise at 3 than I personally can stand...
Cost of the Amp? £100 shipped...

I use the drum set that is in the building by our property line & right next to the neighbors house! They is the Uppity Weekender NY city lawyer a-hole & Mrs Duchebagbalm. Douche-bag say what??

I'll never forget the day he tried to 'tell me' to stop 'cause I was too loud & disturbing them! Ha Ha. Really....? He hasn't been back since, for nothing!
