I picked up a 2011 50's Tribute SG that came without a case....and was trashed but that's a story for another time. I have a Gibson soft case that fits the SG just fine but would like to get a hard case...Will any SG case work with any SG? The 50's Tribute has a 24 fret neck but of course the additional fret/s are at the body joint and have no effect on the overall length of the neck....Tks.

I might be wrong, but Epiphone SG cases are a tad longer, for the bigger headstock.

For what it's worth, back in 1969, my walnut-finished SG Standard came with a coffin case.

I should know what you mean, but I don't know that shape by name. Got a pic or a link to an example?

PS does it refer to the satin sheet cover (as shown above)?

My 24 Fret 70's Tribute SG fits perfect in a regular Gibson SG case. My 70's Tribute came without a hardshell case, so I bought a regular Gibson SG case from Sweetwater, and it works great.

I'm gonna say this is true. I have an Epiphone SG Custom and it will not fit into an SKB case that fits my Gibby. Headstock is just a tad too long. The Epi did not come with a case, so I've taken to using the soft case that came with the Gibby. Becasue it can stretch enough to accomidate the Epi headstock. Back to the original question, I think most aftermarket and Gibby, and Epi branded hard cases would work. I bought the SKB. If I had to do it again I think I would get the Gator case and save the money. Also Gator makes the current Gibson branded "Protector" case.

I don’t know if they still make them, but the ‘Gibson Gear’ HSC fits my 1991 SG Special, like a glove. Maybe you could find a used one on Reverb or something? I think they run about $100 USD.
