Hey all, I have read that the protector, aka "chainsaw" case came in 3 different generations. Mine has only 2 plastic latches on either side of the handle, red interior, and the gibson logo is in red on the case front. I have seen other 2 latch cases like mine, but they all have black, white or purple logos.....whats up with the red? Anyone know which gen the case would be? It came with my 1977 S-G Standard.

If it works well and protects the guitar, what's the point? Is it time for the Courtice Concours d'Case, already ?:laugh2:

Pretty sure yours is a later gen. 1, btw.:dude:

They are great cases. I have a standing order from one of my pro clients to buy any I run across on CL or Ebay. "Ah cain't eem tar 'em mup awn tha torebus, Biddlin." (I can't even tear them up on the tourbus, Biddlin, for the non-redneck reader) He had his 59 LP, the real deal, in one, when his tourbus driver drove over it with the rear duals. The case died, but the Lester inside was fine. I'd take that trade off all day long.

I'm not as familiar with SG cases, but in LP cases that is Gen1, and IMO better than the later ones because believe it or not those plastic latches live longer than the metal ones that replaced them. I also feel they are thinner and fit the guitar snugger.
