My wifes good friend is Tony Danza'a cousin. His real last name is "Iodanza". I met him a few times and he is also a real nice guy. I also met Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn a few years back. A buddy of mine is a piolot for Warner Communications. He flies celebs all over the US is Gulfstreams (G5's & G6's). I only spoke to Kurt and Goldie for a few minutes and they were super nice. They carry their own luggage and don't come accross as snobs. I also helped Michael Keaton carry his stuff to a waiting limo. Another nice fella.

On the other hand, I can tell a few stories about Steven Segal, Burce and Demi and the "Governator" and Kate Jackson......

Nope. He just said "Thanks Larry, see you"

Segal likes young women and enjoys a bit of pushing and slapping. Demi is VERY demanding and Bruce likes to flick his cigarette ashes all over the floor and throw his trash on the floor and seats. Also, very condesending to the pilots. Governator lays back with his feet up and cigar clenched in his teeth and rather than ask the attendant for something, prefers to snap his fingers or whistle. The words "please" and "thank you" are not in his vocabulary.

Oh yeah, my buddy tells me that the all time nicest guy ever to grace a TV or movie screen is Michael J. Fox.

OK, if we are going into non-musician famous folks...

Moved to Big Sur in the early '90's and worked in Carmel (California)
and could only find work in a MOM & POP market that had been there
since the 1930's. We sold everything from breakfast cereal to quail eggs
and rare wines and had 3 full time butchers too.

EVERYBODY shopped there as you could run up a monthly tab and get
billed later AND we had parking under the building where the "stars" could
go shopping and not get mobbed out on the street.

I got to see Clint Eastwood, Rae Dawn Chong, Sean Connery, Ted Turner,
Doris Day, Rossana Arquitte, and many others...

Clint is a regular guy and when he gets to know you, is quite friendly.
But man! He is one TALL dude - funny, they say movies make you look
taller but he must be 6'5" or so! All the tourist would ask where he lived
and the locals would just say..."don't ask" but just point down the street
to his restaurant and say "go have a DIRTY HARRY BURGER".

Rae Dawn Chong and I struck up a conversation that lasted 40 mins and
she came back latter to chat again! Sweet gal she was too.

Some of the LA and jet set were a bit stand offish and weird but alot
were just good folk...

Yea, HOG's BREATH was the name...!
Closed down by the board of health once - that burger must had been real DIRTY!
Had a nice patio with fireplaces though - I think I had a beer there ONCE.

Funny thing was, I'd gone out there 3 or 4 times for vacation
before I moved there and had a blast!

California, a nice place to visit, but to live there = NO WAY!

Between the riots, earthquakes, mudslides, rattlers, plastic people,
and the cost of living - give me an old fashioned east coast hurricane anyday!

I lost 30 lbs living on rice, zuchinni and tofu for 6 of the months that I was there.
The rest of my money went towards rent! I was there over a year.

This still makes me cringe to this day. Weas see if Rick remebers this next time you see him.
In Feb 93 I had just graduated from Recording Engineering school. That same weekend was the Orlando International Guitar show. Went to the guitar show to check it out and look for stuff, along with seeing Rick Nielson talk about his guitar collection and sign copies of the then new book of photos of his collection. I saw Rick's talk and got him to sign my copy of the book in the morning. I still am not sure why, but Joe Walsh was haning out with Rick. After the talk, Rick and Joe left the show. Towards the end of the day I spot Rick and Joe wandering the show obviously having enjoyed a few adult beverages at lunch. Rick seemed ok, but Joe was having trouble walking, talking, etc. They came to a display of vintage Fender amps and Joe just had to try one out. After procuring a vintage burst LP from the display of Rick's guitars by an asistant, Joe proceeds to try the amp out. He plays a few chords and adjusts the amp. A vintage tweed twin of some sort (I didn't know as much about vintage amps then as I do now, so I can't definatly ID the model). Joe was too intoxicated to play. It sounded like the worst kid at a GC trying to do Funk #49 at full volume. Half the crowd was "cool, look it's Joe" the other half, me included, was"oh, god, why doesn't he realize how much he is embarrassing himself". After about 5 minutes of Joe too drunk to play went on, Rick and a couple of Folrida State Troopers led them off through the crowd with Joe asking will you take a check to the amp dealer. The talk for the rest of the day was did you see Joe and how drunk he was.

It's cool that this thread started as a place to rag on celebs, but turned out that they seem pretty nice. Most people have good stories to tell. I'm not suprised by the Arnold story, he just seems to be that kind of guy.
And my son plays drums, thanks for asking. Sometimes he'll pick up a guitar and try to play along when I'm jamming, but he usually ends up drumming the rhythm on the body. I think drums are just in his blood.

Great thread!

My rock star list is pretty short, but thankfully, they were all real good people....

The first was Joan Jett...... I used to work at a florist on LI, and my boss was Kenny Laguna's cousin. Joan needed some grunt work done in her greenhouse at her home in Rockville Centre, and I was the one assigned to do it! I had been there about an hour with one of the girls from the florist. I was covered with dirt and soil, and Joan comes in to see how it's going and offer us a drink. VERY down to earth lady, and this was in '83, not long after she hit it big with I love Rock and Roll..... As I was leaving, a car load of girls pulled up and asked if Joan was home........ No, I didn't get any numbers!

Brian Setzer grew up in my town, and I used to run into him every so often. He was a great guitarist, even back then, and a super regular dude.

I used to work at East Hampton airport, and ran into all sorts of rich and famous folks..... Billy Joel and Paul Simon were the guys I saw most often, as they were regular customers of ours. Both of them are great guys...... Christy B. get's points too... Very nice lady......

The little airline I worked for was booked solid on every friday night coming out and every sunday night going back to LGA. One sunday night, the gate agent gave the wrong guy a boarding pass. He was on the standby list, but had the same name as a guy with a confirmned res. The flight was full and everyone showed. Long story short, he refused to relinquish the boarding card when the mistake was realized. Both guys were yelling and screaming at each other, the gate agent and me..... The station manager had the phone in his hand to call the cops when Paul Simon (confirmed res and was always there an hour early) came over to me and asked if we had room on the morning flight, and if we did, he'd give up his seat "so that those 2 assholes don't kill each other"...... I checked and got him on the morning flight, and then he needed a ride home. I drove him alllllll the way out to Montauk, and picked him up the next morning for the flight. We talked music the whole way there and back, and he even bought coffee and donuts for all of us at the airport, and he was doing us a favor! Great guy.....

Dee Snider is another guy I've already seen mentioned here...... GREAT GUY... I went to HS with his younger brother Doug, who is also best friends with another friend of mine. A few years ago, our mutual friend invited me to the Matco Supernationals at Englishtown (drag races)..... Little did I know that I would be SURROUNDED by Sniders! Out of the 15 folks there, Dave, one other guy and myself were the only non Sniders.... All 5 brothers, including Dee and their kids. What a great bunch of guys. Dee is very cool, and his kids are nice too. Definitely not what you'd expect from a glam rocker. I had a great time.

The few bad experiences have all been with politicians, actors and TV "personalities".... Don't even get me started on Claudia Cohen :o !

Last summer we did a big biker show here in Chicago with RATT. I had heard stories about them being total pricks, but actually they were all very cool........Warren DeMartini stopped me after the gig and we shot the breeze for a while. He was a very down to earth guy and a very acomplished guitarist. Funny thing was, he used a 52 Tele RI for his show.........going thru six JCM 800's and six cabs! ( Between you and me, he only was using one head and one cab) We are supposed to do some more shows with them later this year, I'll have to talk to management to see when ;D
