Has anyone used the CTS 500K DPDT Push-Pull Potentiometers in an SG, I'm curious if they would fit and what your thoughts are on them.

I have the push-push version in my Explorer and it seems to work alright. Taper is different from the normal CTS pots though

Haven't tried it in an SG yet

You could email them and ask for a spec sheet. Or some kind of measurement. They've always been very good about getting back to me when I have questions.

I ended up using Gibsons short push/pull switch for my SG and it was tight - right under the back cover but it worked.
Please post if these work.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I actually found David Shepherd from Mojotone in another forum and he said he would try them in one of his SGs and let me know how it goes. I'll let you guys know how he makes out when he replies with results.

Update: I never heard back from David, so I went ahead and ordered the Pots, they fit in the SG, it's right to the cover but it all fit. Just for anyone wondering I have SD Pearly Gates pickups wired using the SD Jimmy Page wiring diagram. I also used pushback cloth wiring and Emerson paper in oil caps. The pots work great and everything turned out really well. If anyone has any questions or would like to see a picture of the control cavity I can post them, let me know.

Hello Aiannetta, I'd love to see a pic of your guitar control cavity with this set up. I kinda went the lazy route (plus I trust an expert rather than myself!) and ordered up a complete set up from here:

It should arrive this week then I'll stick it in Betty along with the 36th anni PAF and 498T - I'm hoping for something wonderful; we will see... :D

Hey Bettyboo

I've heard good things about Jonsey's wiring harnesses, sounds like you'll have a pretty nice setup when you get everything wired up. Here is a picture of the control cavity and one of my guitar overall. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Just keep in mind when looking at the pictures that I'm a lefty so if your right handed it'll probably be mirror to this.

That's beautiful, particularly to a lefty such as meself; a work of art. I'm not showing Betty those pics, she'd throw a hissy fit!

The cavity is extremely neat considering how much is going on, you've done a great job there.

& your hardware looks amazing too - what have you done to it; looks like a kinda pewter/copper aged look, very nice indeed, but I haven't seen anything like it before. Did you do that yourself? How?

With those Duncan Pearly Gates, I bet she sounds amazing too. Superb work.

Thanks, it turned out pretty well and sounds great. As to the hardware it all came directly from Schaller in aged copper, a quick rundown of what parts I used: Schaller M6 Locking Pin Machine Heads, Schaller bridge and tailpiece, Schaller control knobs and switch covers, a West African Hard Ivory Nut from Guitarsaddles.com, SD Pearly Gates Pickups, CTS 500k DPDT push-pull pots, Emerson .022uF Paper in oil caps, Switchcraft three-way switch and jack, vintage pushback wire. All cavities were shielded with 5 coats of shielding paint from StewMac then I placed a piece of copper shielding tape in each cavity linked them with wire and in the control cavity connected it to ground. For strings I use Ernie Ball 2715 Cobalt Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 10-52 strings.

great job !!!

Thanks!
