Fender Hot Rod Deville 410

I bought one back in october. The only problem is two days after I bought it a speaker blew. So I took it back and they sent it to the shop to get repaired which would take "two to three weeks" according to the store. Well they sent it off and four weeks later I still hadn't gotten it back. Finally I had a gig and made them exchange it for a new one because I couldn't wait any more.
Well the new one has been fine from the beginning of november untill yesterday. I think another speaker blew. :-\ Anyways my question is what should I do? Would fender replace these speakers under warrantee or am I going to have to pay to get new speakers?
Is it the fender speakers or is it just my luck thats bad??

I've never had a problem with my 4-10..Just wondering, how in the heck are you blowing speakers? Any master vol setting above '3' on mine is painful.

Is it the same one that keeps going? maybe the wiring is messed up, but that too would throw off the impedance possibly? I don't get sending your amp back for something as simple as a speaker replacement. That should be a dealer repair. It's more economical for Fender to pay postage on a single speaker versus a 60+ pound amp.

Oh man that thing is beautiful! Mine is all black, I looked for a tweed one but was unable to find anything.

I have no idea how i'm blowing these speakers!?! I think the loudest i've had this one is about 5. The first one I cranked up for a couple of minutes when I got it to see what it would sound like. I didnt figure it would blow a speaker the first day or two I had it, wrong! When I got the replacement I kept it pretty low for fear of blowing another speaker but it looks like I did it again.
I think it's the same speaker too the top left.
If I buy speakers for this and they're the same ohm am I going to have to re-bias the amp or is that just with the tubes? I'm thinking about going ahead and ordering some really nice 10's if it's only a matter of swapping out the speakers. I just dont want to re-bias this thing!

No no, just replace the speaker with one having equal resistance (same ohms).
Rebiasing has to do with the tubes. No need to do that for a speaker replacement

No matter if the amp is still covered by warranty, I would want to know why in the blazes those speakers are failing. I've played for many years and have never once saw a guitar speaker just quit. It has to be something in the wiring, considering that the top left one may get the juice first, it must be acting as a fuseable link of sorts keeping your other ones from going too. Don't waste your money on speakers till the problem is solved.

How much do you think it would cost me if my warrantee didnt cover it? I know you can't tell me when you dont know for sure whats wrong with my amp but should I even bother to bring it in if I dont have at least a couple hundred saved up? :-\

Unless it's nothing you are doing to cause the speakers to blow you should be covered and it wont cost you anything. I would have them replace it or fix it, or if you don't want it anymore and are able to, get your money back......I mean it's a new amp you just got from them right?

I agree with SG Steve on not waisting your money on speakers till the problem, whatever it may be, is solved.....definitely take it back.

Could a bad wall socket be the cause of this? I spoke with another band that practices at the same studio and they told me the wiring for the wall sockets are notoriously bad there. He said he just fried a 200 dollar pedal and I have noticed the mesa boogie they have has gone back twice for repairs since we've started practicing there.
If this is the case i'm not going to use my amps anymore at the studio and I'm going to take it to a certified fender repair shop and have them fix my amp. I've been doing research and I think it's covered by the warrantee even though it's been three months or so.

Don't know, but if it do, it had to go through the amp prior to hitting your speakers so you might have some more damage done to your amp then you know....then again maybe not. Like I said I don't know...I just pushadagas and go :roll:.

The warranty from the location you bought it might be expired but you should have a Fender warranty on that amp so make sure like you say to take it to an authorized fender dealer for repairs. I have one myself ( Deville 410) and for the life of me I can't remember right now, but I want to say its a 5 year manufactures warranty.

Sounds to me like whomever did your previous repair just replaced the busted speaker. My 4-10 is one of the earlier series and excepting the normal tube replacement, thats been it. It smokes my new Marshall TSL-602! I couldnt believe it...Fender really did good with the HRD 4-10 and I'd buy another in a second. Actually, I'm contemplating exchanging the TSL for one.

Yeah I LOVE this amp. I stopped using all my pedals when I got this just because it sounds so beautiful and responsive to different pick attacks. It's just really pissing me off right now! Acutally it wasn't repaired. I bought an amp and it blew. The repair took too long so they gave me a new one. Then the new amp blew a speaker in the same spot the old amp did! I'm really starting to think its the wiring at the studio.
I'm gonna send it back to the certified fender repairman and see what they say.

Quick question, when you got the first amp replaced, did they get you a NEW amp, like new in the box, never been opened? Or did they just unload the floor model on you?

They gave me one that was on the floor but I dont think they have any amps that arn't on the floor. It's kind of a smaller music store. I do know it was new though because I pay attention to what amps they have in and when I bought my original they didnt get another one in for a couple weeks. Then they swapped my old one out for the new one they got in. If that makes any sense. lol

I'll tell you this, The 4-10 HRD is also a great amp for pedals. I usually run my delays/flanger/chorus in the fx loop. I run my wah first then a ts9 in the guitar input. Using the ts9 (or any od/distortion) will give you another dirty sound to use in conjunction with the killer clean channel, turning the clean into a two channel when you step on the distortion. And you still have the drive and more drive to play with! :)

Oh man dont get me started on the HRD!! I'm telling you, I tried out every tube amp in the store with my guitar. I'm talking marshall heads peavey 6150+'s you name it I tried it out and I kept going back to the HRD for it's really clean sound. It's like it doesnt have a sound it's like it has a feeling and it just pours out of this thing!
I love the amp and I hope once I get all the quirks worked out it will serve me well.

Yeah that 410 hot rod is pretty sweet. However lately I've been dragging my Red Knob out and the Deville's been sitting at home the last couple of months....guess I'm going through my 12's thing.

Also for some reason its sounding to bassy (? spelling) to me....got the bass rolled completely off and still sounds bassy. I was having to slap my EQ on the Deville to get rid of some of the bass. Which is no biggie cause I do the same for the Twin, just never had to before with the Deville.

I've been going allot cleaner than I use to so that might have something to do with the way I'm hearing it now....plus old ears.
