Played an older model at GC a few years ago. It was the blue color, nice finish. Anywho, the sound was bright and twangy, although I could have done with a bit more power.

Yeah, they are cool.
One of the few Japanese models still sold in the states.
Very good quality, priced just below a new American Strat.
My dealer always keeps one or two on the wall.

74, you'll never see hot pickups on a twelve. :?

It displeases the Gods. ;D

in my own little world... apparently
yes!

the guitarist in my band owns one... its very cool. it sounds like what you would expect a 12 to sound like. he gets a sound like you would hear from a octave pedal. i'll have to pay more attention to what he's sounding like next time he plays it

im usually trying to blast my drummer

That headstock looks FUGLY...  :p

It looks retro. They used to have the same deal going on with the Jaguar. Townshend recorded Sparks with one, IIRC.

I'd have no problem playing either.

Phil is right about the octave pedal, now that I think about it . . . .

Yeah, I dunno.
It kinda sounds like a Strat with twelve strings. ;D

Really, it's pretty mellow, you have three pickups for different tones like a Strat.
Rickenbacker-ish with a little more versatility, maybe?

The thin Strat single coil string definition really gives it a cool jangle.

I considered buying one, but I can't play 12 for squat, even on my EDS 1275.
(Still debating the SG 12 string . . . . )

I say buy it!!!

Is the "bright and twangy" like the typical Fender sound? As it may be well known that I don't particularly care for Fenders, my love of 12 Strings would force me to a tough decision. I think I would need to try one anyway........ There are a number of tunes with that sound the 12 produces...... like a lot of the Byrds stuff. :coolsmiley:

I ment some more low end would be nice. :)

And Six String, I can't really describe the difference. It seems to be a bit less bright than a Strat, if I remember correctly.

The guitar used by Townsend is a Fender XII. It has a Jaguar style body but the electrics, hardware & neck are unique to the XII.
