In the Main, either Vintage 30s or Eminence (Spg?) But you can have whatever your Heart desires. Andy Turnpenny had the 1224 Head and a 4x12 sitting at his place......loaded with Alnico Blues! Wow....that sounded Brill.

He also had.........
A Boogie F50.
A KOCH Combo (Which he really rates)
An ENGL Thunder and the Ritchie Blackmore Head,
AND......The Handwired Marshall 18 Watt Combo.....which he says has been a let down in comparison to the KOCH and ENGLs?

Nice Guy, Great Time spent in his company.

As an Interesting Footnote.....................................

I am so SAD that I even had a very Vivid Dream about the Sound of the Matamp and had to go and double check that it was still there!

I'm afraid that I have Officially become "A Hopeless Case"!

Her Ladyship requested the Opening Bars of " Parisienne Walkways" with her Cup of Tea this morning, the comment was..................................
"Right.......Same again Please, BUT LOUDER"! (at least I think that's what she said!?) ;)

I gotta admit, that's on nice looking amp head you have there Lord Lex...

Have you had a chance to play some more of your guitars through it yet?
Any favorites? Any favorite settings? Suprises? Tried it through a different cab?

Certainly was......... 100% Delighted with this as my main Amp. The switching to 6L6 and fitting the Alnico Blue has worked wonders on an already Great Amp. ;D

Yes, they certainly are wonderful little amps, how much did you get it for (if you don't mind me asking).
Alnico blue in mine too, but after trying various valves have settled on a electro harmonix KT88, which by the way, makes it even louder. I don't understand the rating of these amps, I know C7 is for Clean 7 watts, but I'm sure it would be rated 30 watts by Marshall.
Anyway, I aint complaining :)
Are you using any pedals, boosters etc.

Yup.... I'd have to agree with you about the Volume Rating.
The 6L6 has certainly made a difference to the "perceived" volume over the EL34 ;) and I am holding my own quite comfortably at Rehearsal Levels within a 10 Piece Blues Band which includes Horns!!!!

Yup..... I do run a Pedal Board, I have the following, but am not using them all in this situation.
Boss Tuner
Xotic RC Booster (Clean Boost)
Keeley Modded TS9
Boss Compressor.
Boss Chorus
Boss Delay
Boss Noise Gate
Fulltone Deja-Vibe
and Finally
A Blackstone Mosfet OD/Distortion.

For the Blues Gig I just use The RC Booster (That's on the entire time...whatever Gig I have ;)) The TS9 and Chorus. The Compressor gets used occasionally for some Slide Parts...but not all.

I paid £425 for the entire Rig including the Matamp Attenuator ....which I haven't ever tried. I would willingly have paid more had it been required.
I'm now looking at the 1224 Head as well for Bigger Venues, but suspect that I'll just Mic up this Baby instead? Alternatively I could use the AC30CC I supposse, but it hasn't got quite what this set up gives me. ;D

Yeah, I play in quite a loud 5 piece (as yet) SKA band and it holds up just fine, I actually use the attenuator at rehearsals to drive the amp more without upsetting the drummer and use it set as a boost for solos when its stomped off.
I'm after a treble boost at the moment,
has anyone tried any of BURFORD's pedals?,
they are making quite a cheap germanium rangemaster clone, might try it out for the price.
1224 sounds good, quite fancy a GTL myself though.
