So today I was in guitar center, just lookin at guitars, not to buy anything. I never had played an Epi before so I decided to play the G400 Custom. It looked and felt nice. BUT, when I plugged in in and played it sounded horrible. It the pups were way to muddy. And it had a horrible tone. I know Epi's arnt' as good as quality as Gibson anyway, but I was expecting alot more. Maybe this was just a faulty model or something. But whatever it was.... :(

Ah same here. I expected much more form such models as The les paul custom and the Custom sg but omg. They sounded terrible and i was usiing a fender deluxe 120 amp.....

I dont know if the floor models were bad or something....
I used the double cut p90 les paul thing and omg that was also terrible.

G-400 was NASTY omg i love it.
Stevie ray vaughn's strat was absolutely nasty

I've had great luck with my G-400 Customs. You have to remember that there are 3 volume controls that you need to adjust as well as the toggle switch. Once you get used to it, the tones are great. I've found that the bridge pickup sounds best alone, while the neck and middle pickup together have a very sweet sound. If all the pickups are on, it sounds muddy. I don't care for Guitar Center because the floor models get beat up, but I can't imagine that the sound would be affected.

True that, 'cuz I once went to the one near Washington. They had a very nice Schecter hollowbody, but it had a cracked neck and it was all scratched up. The finish on the neck was coming off. Along with the Fender P bass, that had the same problem.
